Thousands self-deporting amid administration push to deport undocumented immigrants
The Trump administration has had a bit of a pleasant surprise regarding illegal immigrants.
Reports are now breaking that thousands of illegals are self-deporting rather than face deportation from the Trump administration.
Legal Challenges
Just as we suspected, when Trump started to deport people, Democrats and activists started to file suits to push back.
Trump has been trying to use the Alien Enemies Act to remove some of the more nefarious characters, but that has not been going very well, either.
Initially, Trump won an appeal before the Supreme Court, but that was only because the court did not have jurisdiction.
When the cases were refiled in Texas and New York, the rulings were the same, so Trump is back to the drawing board to try to use the AEA to remove gang members who are illegals.
Homeland Security Revokes Status
This week, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made a move that is likely to wind up in the courts sooner rather than later.
Noem announced that the more than 900,000 people who used Biden’s CBP app to get asylum are losing their status, but I am pretty sure she does not have the authority to revoke the status.
There are two interesting aspects of this case. The first is that illegals are clearly being put on notice that their time here is up, and they would be better off leaving.
Second, the administration may have a case since Biden was circumventing the immigration courts, with many experts saying that most of the people who were approved on the app never would have had a successful asylum case had they gone through normal channels.
Self-Deporting
The administration has flipped the script, so to speak, on that app, now allowing immigrants the ability to self-deport, and they are reportedly taking advantage.
Migrants have the ability to pick a departure flight if they agree to leave on their own, stating, “Self-deportation is safe.” America First Legal Senior Counsel James Rogers explained, "Our nation’s immigration laws impose severe penalties on aliens who are illegally in the country. The only reason there is a large population of illegal immigrants residing in the United States is because prior administrations have failed to enforce these laws passed by Congress.
“Everyone knows this, including the aliens who have been illegally living here. The current trend of illegal aliens self-deporting proves that even just the credible threat of enforcement can be enough to get many illegal immigrants to comply with our laws and leave the country."
I love this idea, and an excited to see that thousands of illegals are getting the message, and even more excited that we don’t waste our tax dollars fighting these cases out in the courts. Now if we can just get the courts to agree that our immigration laws are actually laws that were broken, and not optional, but Democrats and liberal judges don’t seem to understand that.
