Tim Walz's own family comes out against a Harris-Walz administration

Members of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's (D) own family are supporting former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

This is according to recent reporting from the New York Post

Among those against a Harris-Walz administration is Jeff Walz, the brother of Tim Walz.

But, as we will see, Jeff is not the only Walz who is for Trump, and against Tim.

"100% opposed"

It was in a Facebook post that Jeff Walz, last week, revealed that, politically speaking, he is no fan of his brother.

"Haven't spoken to him (Tim) in 8 years. I'm 100% opposed to all his ideology. My family wasn't given any notice that he was selected and denied security the days after," Jeff Walz wrote.

He added that he was thinking about telling his story at a Trump rally, writing, "I've thought hard about doing something like that! I'm torn between that and just keeping my family out of it. The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future."

In addition to this, a photograph, according to the Post, of members of Walz's family has been circulating the internet. The photograph shows family members wearing "Nebraska Walz's for Trump" t-shirts.

Regrets?

On Wednesday, CNN reported that Jeff Walz expressed some regrets about the social media posts mentioned above.

Per the outlet:

Jeff Walz, the older brother of Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, told NewsNation in an interview that he didn’t intend to “influence the general public” with social media posts that indicated his support for Trump over Harris’ and his brother’s campaign and said he has no plans to be campaigning “for him or against him” ahead of November’s election.

Jeff Walz went on to explain why he decided to post the social media message in the first place.

He said:

It was a post that – that I made because I was getting a lot of feedback from my friends, old acquaintances, thinking that I was feeling the same way that my brother did on the issues, and I was trying to clarify that just to friends,” he told NewsNation. “I used Facebook, which wasn’t the right platform to do that for.

Jeff Walz went on to say that it is "too bad" that he and his brother had grown apart, and he added that he hopes that they can "disagree and still be civil brothers."
