Trump allies want Trump to sue AOC for defamation
Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is up to no good again.
AOC got the pot stirred this weekend by once again calling President Trump a racist.
Trump’s allies now think Trump should go after her in court for defamation, but the president had been shockingly silent on this one.
Partial loss
Several years ago, author E. Jean Carroll came forward to accuse Donald Trump of raping her in a department store.
Trump denied the incident, saying he did not even know Carroll.
Regardless, she sued in civil court and won, with the jury finding Trump liable for sexual assault, not rape, and that is a major difference.
I am not excusing the charge, but today, telling someone you think they are pretty can be deemed sexual harassment. Having said that, the judge in the case went ballistic after the verdict, saying that this was all semantics, and Trump had committed rape. That was the judge’s opinion, however, not the actual verdict, and that is important to remember.
Big loss
After Trump lost the case, he announced he would be appealing, which he also lost, running into judges who clearly did not hold Trump in a favorable light.
When the case was over, this legal team was grateful that even though they lost the case, the label “rapist” would not be hung on their client.
His legal team added, “The American People are supporting President Trump in historic numbers, and they demand an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and a swift dismissal of all of the Witch Hunts, including the Democrat-funded Carroll Hoaxes, the defense of which the Attorney General has determined is legally required to be taken over by the Department of Justice because Carroll based her false claims on the President’s official acts, including statements from the White House.”
Even now, however, Democrats are pointing to what the judge said rather than the actual verdict, and it could cost AOC if Trump decides to go after her.
Take it all
After the administration said there was no Epstein client list, AOC responded, "Wow who would have thought that electing a rapist would have complicated the release of the Epstein Files?"
Trump advocates went after her right away. For instance, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) stated, "Even under the ridiculously lenient standards of NY Times v. Sullivan, you’ve managed to incur defamation liability Wow.”
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) posted, "Why didn’t you guys release the Epstein files over the last 4 years? Maybe you were too busy covering for Joe Biden… or, could it have something to do with another former Democrat President?"
I am going to guess that Trump will not pursue legal action because I think he just wants that story to go away, guilty or not. If he sues AOC, it brings the entire case back into the limelight, as well as embarrassing Melania Trump… again. I think Trump would have a case, but as long as AOC does not keep it up, I think Trump will drop it. Again, though, this is a case where I hope I am wrong because I would love to see AOC held accountable.
