Trump backs Cuellar challenger in House race

Earlier this year, Donald Trump pardoned yet another politician who was up on corruption charges. This time, it was Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), who claimed the system was being weaponized against him because he pushed back on Biden’s border policies.

Cueller recently announced he was running for office again, as a Democrat, and that is not sitting well with Trump.

The Pardon

Cuellar joins a growing list of Democrats who were let off the hook by Trump, who were either convicted of or were facing corruption charges.

Trump pardoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat who happened to appear on Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” show, after he had been convicted on corruption charges, which reportedly included trying to sell Obama’s Senate seat.

He also had the DOJ drop the charges against former New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who appeared to be in an open-and-shut case related to bribery allegations.

Cueller was also pardoned, with Trump citing the weaponization of the DOJ against him for his stance on immigration.  I did not support any of these pardons because I don’t like corrupt politicians.

Disloyal

I think Trump thought Cuellar would either get out of politics or flip parties after the pardon, but he decided to run as a Democrat again.

Trump called him disloyal, then continued to rip him in a Truth Social post.

Trump posted, "Such a lack of LOYALTY, something that Texas Voters, and Henry's daughters, will not like. Oh' well, next time, no more Mr. Nice guy!"

You get in bed with a snake, sometimes you get bitten. This is now the third time Trump has had this happen, and that does not even include the long list of corrupt Republicans he has pardoned.

You Are Out

Trump is now backing Cuellar’s GOP opponent in the House race, once again blasting Cuellar in the process.

Trump posted, "Nobody knows Henry Cuellar better than Donald J. Trump. I studied his records, learned about his financing, and listened to his two wonderful daughters beg me to help the mother and father that they love."

Then came the predictable personal insults, as he continued, "He was a weak and incompetent version of me, who wanted the Border closed to criminals, drug dealers, people from mental institutions and, above all, murderers and heavy-handed criminals that were sitting in jails and mental institutions, and should never have been given the right to be released into our Country."

I will never, and I mean NEVER, support any leniency for a corrupt politician. Furthermore, I don’t understand why Trump has now pardoned roughly two dozen corrupt politicians, including one who stole from a fund that was to honor fallen police officers. As I said earlier, you lie in bed with a snake, sometimes you get bitten. Hopefully, Trump has learned his lesson.
