Trump Back in Trouble Over Song Licensing

Once again, Trump has some self-induced legal problems over a song that was played at the Democrat National Convention and a recent rally without the proper licensing.

The estate of Isaac Hayes sued Trump for playing “Hold On, I’m Comin” at both events without purchasing a license for the song.

Trump was cut a break, however, in that he does not have to remove the song from recordings of those events that are already up online.

Pay the Fee

This has happened to Trump quite a few times, to be honest, and there is simply no need for it.

If I sound as though I am being hard on Trump, I am because it is an unforced error.

He and his campaign are well aware of the fact they cannot use songs for these events without securing a license, yet the same thing keeps happening.

Whoever is in charge of this should be fired, to be honest.

As far as the case is concerned, Trump’s campaign had already agreed to stop using the song, so that is a non-issue.

The song was played during the Republican National Convention in July and during his August 9 rally in Phoenix.

Hayes’ estate stated, “We are very pleased with the court’s decision.

“Donald Trump has been told he cannot use the music of Isaac Hayes without a license. That was our No. 1 goal. Now we work on the underlying trial and case.”

Donald Trump’s attorney, Ronald Coleman, stated that Trump’s campaign “had already agreed to cease further use” of the song and that it was “very gratified that the court recognized the First Amendment issues at stake and didn’t order a takedown of existing videos.”

I am actually shocked the judge did not make them address the issue in the recordings already posted online or hit Trump with a fee on this front, so they got lucky there.

Trump’s campaign knows every misstep by Trump gets magnified 1000 times the usual, so stop being stupid, secure the licenses, and stop creating negative news cycles for no reason at all.
