Trump breaks bad news to Zelensky regarding NATO membership

Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky have been trading barbs in the media as of late.

It got to the point that Zelensky finally said he would resign if it would bring peace and a NATO membership, but Trump just broke the bad news to the Ukrainian president.

I Will Resign

Donald Trump has been pressuring Zelensky since he took office again as the 47th president.

It even got to the point that Trump suggested Zelensky was a dictator for not having elections, even suggesting that Zelensky should step down because of how disastrous his presidency was for the country. Trump then blamed Zelensky for starting the war.

Zelensky then responded, “If you need me to leave this chair, I am ready to do that, and I also can exchange it for NATO membership for Ukraine.”

The NATO membership is what Trump pointed to when blaming Zelensky, as officials stated it was his pursuit of a NATO membership that forced Russia’s hand.

We Want Your Minerals

Zelensky is on record asking for help for the war, saying he would pay every penny back to the United States, but now he claims that Joe Biden told him every cent of aid he received was a grant, so he does not accept that Ukraine owes the United States billions of dollars.

Trump did not want to hear it, more or less giving Ukraine an ultimatum to sign a mineral rights deal that would pay the United States back or risk losing any future aid.

Trump was reportedly seeking a $500 billion deal, but I stated at the time that was likely posturing to get negotiations rolling. The last numbers I saw, Ukraine was set to agree to sign a deal in the neighborhood of $350 billion, with Trump announcing that Zelensky was heading to DC to sign the deal.

Trump added, “The previous administration put us in a very bad position, but we’ve been able to make a deal where we’re going to get the money back and a lot of money in the future.”

You Want the Good News or the Bad News?

Donald Trump had some good news and bad news for Zelensky in regard to the peace deal they are working on.

The good news is that Trump stated he would get back as much land as possible from Russia, stating, “We’re going to do the best we can to make the best deal we can for both sides, but for Ukraine, we’re going to try very hard to make a good deal so that they can get as much back as possible. We want to get as much back as possible.”

The bad news… Zelensky can forget about NATO. Trump stated, “NATO, you can forget about. I think that’s probably the reason the whole thing started.”

Ukraine can be given security assurances from NATO, but rest assured, if Ukraine was considered for NATO membership, it would likely start World War III, which is why NATO is not realistic at this point. Zelensky really has no say in the matter, either, as he has no leverage. Without the United States, his country would have already been conquered by Russia, so he pretty much has to do whatever Trump tells him to do.
