Trump calls out Supreme Court over recent ruling
Over the weekend, the Supreme Court issued a late-night ruling that did not please Justice Alito or Donald Trump.
Trump walked the line, calling out the Court while not trying to pour gasoline on it simultaneously.
Alito goes off
The Court ruled to temporarily block deportations by the Trump administration using the Alien Enemies Act.
Now, I have stated numerous times that I do not believe this legislation can be activated here due to the spirit of the law, which is clearly a wartime law that would need to see an armed invasion by our enemies, and while I want these gang members deported, I just don’t see how they qualify under this legislation.
Justice Alito went nuclear on his fellow court members for the ruling, stating, “The Court issued unprecedented and legally questionable relief without giving the lower courts a chance to rule, without hearing from the opposing party, within eight hours of receiving the application, with dubious factual support for its order, and without providing any explanation for its order.
“I refused to join the Court’s order because we had no good reason to think that, under the circumstances, issuing an order at midnight was necessary or appropriate.”
Trump calls out court
While many mainstream media publications are advertising this as Trump “blasting” the Supreme Court or something similar, his criticism was both respectful and tame.
Trump, in protesting the ruling, stated, “My team is fantastic, doing an incredible job, however, they are being stymied at every turn by even the U.S. Supreme Court, which I have such great respect for, but which seemingly doesn’t want me to send violent criminals and terrorists back to Venezuela, or any other Country, for that matter.”
Trump then made a statement which is an unfortunate truth due to what Biden did while in office, adding, “We cannot give everyone a trial, because to do so would take, without exaggeration, 200 years.
“We would need hundreds of thousands of trials for the hundreds of thousands of Illegals we are sending out of the Country. Such a thing is not possible to do. What a ridiculous situation we are in.”
Patience wearing thin
The Trump administration is growing very impatient over these court battles, and while I get it, the administration will lose most of these battles due to the current processes in place, which the courts will follow, including the Supreme Court.
To that point, Paul Ingrassia, the White House liaison to the Department of Homeland Security, claimed that judges “have been infected with parasitical ideology.”
He added, “The judges in law courts today, including the majority in the nation’s Highest Court, telegraph with these decisions that they have no understanding of law and its proper function and role.”
Listen… he is not wrong, as there are clearly activists on the bench today, but this is more about the process and precedents that are in place. Most of Trump’s orders are unconstitutional and illegal, only made worse by the fact that liberal judges are chomping at the bit to get a piece of Trump. Having said that, as I have stated before, the real problem is Congress, which needs to fix this by legislating it, and they are simply not doing their job.
