Trump cleans house at National Security Council
While National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are safe, at least for now, over #SignalGate, that is not the case for everyone.
According to reports, Trump was visited by a sometimes-controversial voice this week, and after that meeting, as many as six staffers were fired.
Trump stands by Waltz
Waltz has people on both sides of the aisle looking for his head, and I happen to agree with them.
Regardless of the impact the leak had on the strike in Yemen against the Houthis, this could have cost people their lives, and that is unacceptable.
Even so, Trump has stood by Waltz to this point, who gave up a seat in Congress to join the new administration. Trump stated, "Michael Waltz has learned a lesson, and he’s a good man.”
At the time, Trump thought it was a Waltz staffer who added the journalist to the thread, but Waltz has since come to out to take the blame, which, at least to me, makes it even more imperative that he lose his job.
Trump receives a visit
On Thursday, the internet was blowing up with reports that looney tune Laura Loomer had somehow been given a meeting with Trump.
Loomer, if you are not familiar, is a far-right media personality who likes to make a lot of things up and throw them into the fan to see if they will stick.
For instance, she once proclaimed that Joe Biden was near death, but that obviously was not the truth. He may look like death, but he was not dying.
This is not someone that should have the ear of the president, yet there she was, sitting across the desk from Trump, giving him information about staffers who she thought needed to be fired.
They’re gone
Not long after Loomer left the White House, six national security officials were terminated, which Trump confirmed.
Loomer posted, “I woke up this morning to learn that there are still people in and around the West Wing who are LEAKING to the hostile, left-wing media about President Trump’s *confidential* and *private* meetings in the Oval Office. I want to reiterate how important it is that people who gain access to the White House or the administration respect the privacy of their conversations with President Trump and his senior staff.”
Trump then told the media, “Laura Loomer is a very good patriot and she is a very strong person. I saw her yesterday for a little while. She makes recommendations of things and people, and sometimes I listen to those recommendations. I listen to everybody and then I make a decision. … . She always has something to say and it’s usually constructive. … She recommended some people for jobs.”
I think you guys can tell how I feel about Loomer having the president’s ear, and right or wrong, this is not someone that Trump needs to be affiliated with, especially for decisions such as this. I just don’t see who this helps Trump or the conservative movement to have this woman so close to the White House, and it will only give more traction to her crazy theories that fall apart about 99% of the time.
