Trump FDA nominee flips the script on Democrat Senator

When we start talking about the COVID vaccine, we have to be careful because we all know the censor police are watching.

Yet, when Trump’s FDA nominee, Dr. Marty Makary was being questioned about vaccines, he unloaded, calling out something that took place, or I guess I should say did not take place, during the Biden administration.

The Vaccine

The COVID vaccine was developed during the Trump administration and in my humble opinion, it was pushed through far too quickly.

Trump removed a lot of the red tape, but I have never been convinced that it was the right decision.

In fact, Democrats attacked Trump on this front right up until Joe Biden won the election, then Dems tried to sell the vaccine as safe and effective.

I still believe there are concerns, such as long-term health effects and how this vaccine impacted younger patients. Nobody wants to talk about that, however, and as I hinted above, as journalists, we have to be uber careful about discussing it for fear for being censored.

The Recommendation

During the Biden administration, the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee, or VRBPAC, came under fire numerous times.

At one point, the committee decided not to recommend a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine to anyone who was 16 years of age or older.

At the time this was taking place, there were plenty of conflicting reports about the efficacy of a booster shot. For instance, a study in The New England Journal of Medicine showed only a slightly declining efficacy in booster shots through six months, while a study in the MMWR had the efficacy dropping nearly a third of what The England Journal of Medicine showed.

During the Biden administration, one of the meetings by this committee regarding vaccine booster shots was canceled, which would serve as ammunition for Trump’s FDA nominee.

Canceled

Dr. Marty Makary, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine professor and former Fox News medical contributor, is Trump’s nominee for the FDA, and he came ready to battle during his confirmation hearing.

Senator Pat Murphy (D-WA) asked him, "So if you are confirmed, will you commit to immediately reschedule that FDA Vaccine Advisory Committee meeting to get the expert views?" This question was clearly in response to an announcement made in late February after Kennedy was confirmed to head the HHS to cancel a committee hearing, but Makary flipped it on her.

He responded, "Well, you can ask the Biden administration that chose not to convene the committee meeting for the COVID vaccine booster."

He made a great point because when the Biden administration pushed through the FDA approval of the booster shot, there was barely a blip on the radar, and I had to do some serious digging to find the announcement. Yet, the recent hearing cancellation was featured in dozens of mainstream outlets, all trying to create a panic over the decision. The duality in how our media treats these issues is shameful, to say the least.
