Trump follows through on move to relocate Space Force
I can still remember when Donald Trump ordered the creation of Space Force during his first term. Dems actually tried to have Space Force abolished, then bragged about putting Harris in charge of all things space.
On a different front, Biden issued an order to block Trump from moving the branch out of Colorado, but Trump just revoked his order, which will relocate the branch to Alabama.
Abolish it
Space is truly the next frontier, and if you own space, you will truly own the skies and become “the” world power.
Trump was mocked, with many calling this a vanity project on his end, even to the point that they tried to fight it.
Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA) put forth the No Militarization of Space Act, which would have dismantled Space Force.
He stated, “The long-standing neutrality of space has fostered a competitive, non-militarized age of exploration every nation and generation has valued since the first days of space travel. But since its creation under the former Trump administration, the Space Force has threatened longstanding peace and flagrantly wasted billions of taxpayer dollars.”
Staying put
It is quite naïve to think that space will not be a battleground at some point, especially if there are extraterrestrials out there.
Trump formed the Space Force later in his term, and it was originally headquartered in Colorado, but Trump had issued plans to move the HQ to Alabama, which was deemed to be a political weapon since Colorado is a blue state and Alabama is a red state.
When Biden came into office, he shot the order down, deciding to leave the HQ of Space Force in Colorado, claiming to have thoroughly studied the move, and this seemed to be the most cost-effective solution as well as leaving Space Force at a readiness level that was needed (again, keep in mind, Dems mocked the idea of Space Force at first).
Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL) was furious, stating, “This fight is far from over.”
Moving
I have given Trump props on this before, but I have to do it again, in that Trump has learned a lot of lessons during his first term, the primary one being that if you want something done, do it early in the term so you can win the legal battles before the term is over.
So, Trump just pulled Biden’s order and announced that the Space Force is headed to Alabama. He stated, "The U.S. Space Command headquarters will move to the beautiful locale of a place called Huntsville, Alabama, forever to be known from this point forward as Rocket City.
"This will result in more than 30,000 Alabama jobs. And probably much more than that, and hundreds of millions of dollars of investment. … Most importantly, this decision will help America defend and dominate the high frontier, as they call it."
The big job for Space Force right now is working on Trump’s “dome” to defend the country from an air assault, hoping to place satellites that would cover and protect the entire country from a missile attack.
