Trump issues travel ban to block 12 countries from entering United States

During Donald Trump’s first term, he banned numerous nations from entering the United States for various reasons, including COVID worries.

Trump has just issued his first travel ban of his second administration, mostly due to possible terrorist threats, and Dems, of course, are outraged.

Trump’s First Travel Ban

When Donald Trump ran for office in 2016, he had made comments on the campaign trail about a terror attack in California, calling for a complete travel ban of all Muslims entering the United States.

After taking office, one of Trump’s first actions was to enact what became known as the “Muslim ban.” After Biden took office, he revoked all of Trump’s travel bans.

When COVID hit, Trump had also issued a ban against the entry of those who posed a risk of transmitting the COVID virus.

Again, the ban was initially criticized by Democrats and liberals, with Trump only having the regret that he did not initiate the ban earlier.

Latest Trump Ban

On Wednesday, Trump announced another sweeping ban that mimicked the Muslim ban from the first administration.

Trump has banned nationals from 12 countries, including Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen.

There are also countries with partial bans, such as Cuba, Laos, and Venezuela.

A White House spokesperson stated, "President Trump is fulfilling his promise to protect Americans from dangerous foreign actors that want to come to our country and cause us harm.”

Dems Go on the Attack

As they did during Donald Trump’s first term, Democrats went after him right away as a “racist” for issuing the travel ban.

For instance, Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) stated, “Trump’s use of prejudice and bigotry to bar people from entering the U.S. does not make us safer, it just divides us and weakens our global leadership.”

Another Democrat called it a “horror show,” with Squad member Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) adding, “Banning people fleeing dangerous countries like Afghanistan — a country where many people are in danger due to their work assisting the U.S. military — the Congo, Haiti and Sudan will only further destabilize global security.”

Honestly, I have no problem with this ban considering the recent rise in antisemitic attacks in this country, including an alleged terror attack in Colorado from an illegal immigrant. As long as these threats are present, we need to take measures to protect citizens and legal residents of this country. Call it whatever “ist” word you want, I think Trump made the right call here.
