Trump Leaning on Son Barron for Drawing in Younger Voters

Donald Trump came into this election knowing his support numbers have more or less not moved since 2016.

He hoped to change that by drawing in more younger voters, and it has been his son, Barron, who has made a huge impact on this front.

We Need Help

In 2016, Donald Trump had very little support among minorities and young men. In 2020, Trump made some small inroads, but it was clearly not enough to make a difference in the election.

Trump came into the 2024 cycle knowing that if he was going to win, he was going to have to expand beyond his base. The most obvious demographic here was young men, more specifically, young black men.

There were signs very early on that Donald Trump had changed his campaign strategy, as he was suddenly showing up on alt-media, doing podcasts with hosts that were very popular among younger voters. So, the natural question was who got in Trump’s ear to change this strategy to draw in more voters?

Barron to the Rescue

Trump had mentioned very early in this campaign after a podcast interview that was out of his “norm” that Barron had recommended that he do these types of interviews. Trump’s August 20 interview with Von was an immediate game-changer.

All of a sudden, Trump was the hottest name in podcasts. Trump has since done podcast interviews with Adin Ross, Andew Schulz, and Patrick Bet-David. Then came Trump’s biggest coup… his three-hour podcast interview with Joe Rogan on Friday.

Within 48 hours, the podcast had already had a reported 20 million listeners, and that is not even counting the video snippets that are working their way around the internet and the YouTube snippets that are popping up everywhere.

Donald Trump has stated several times that Barron has helped him by recommending the biggest podcasts that are popular with younger voters, and this was confirmed by Donald Trump’s senior campaign adviser Jason Miller, who stated, “Barron has been very involved in recommending a number of the podcasts that we should do.

“I got to tell you, hats off to the young man. Every single recommendation he’s had has turned out to be absolute ratings gold that’s broke the internet. When you look at the impact of podcasts or YouTube shows — non-traditional media — part of the thing is you’re meeting voters where they’re at.”

Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt added some insight on this front as well, saying that the campaign wanted to add content that could go viral to this campaign to help Trump. This has been key for Trump because he had been getting clobbered in fundraising efforts by Democrats. Trump knows he cannot match that buying power, so free advertising is very much needed.

Leavitt stated, “President Trump is very likable, and everything he does is a viral moment, whether it’s just simply walking into a Chick-fil-A in Atlanta and meeting with the young workers or flipping burgers at an Iowa football game tailgate.”

It’s Making an Impact

The new strategy is working, and it is working amazingly well. This appears to not only be working with younger voters, but it is really having an impact with young black men, and it has Democrats panicking to the point they have resorted to shaming young black men, insisting they vote for Harris because she is black. Michelle Obama did an event this weekend hinting that anyone not supporting Harris is racist and sexist.

Democrats are panicking because Trump has made up serious ground. For instance, during the 2020 election, Biden had a 9:1 ratio of black male voters in the 18-40 range. Harris only has a 3:1 advantage over Trump in the same age bracket this time around. Now, if Trump could figure out how to lure in more women voters, he could run away with this.
