Trump offers softer stance on Gaza after pushback on proposed plan

When Donald Trump first started talking about the rebuilding of Gaza after the war with Israel, he suggested relocating Palestinians until the area could be rebuilt, but that is not how the media or Democrats tried to portray his stance.

There was immediate pushback and suggestions that Israel would never let Palestinians re-enter, but now Trump has softened his stance a bit, or should I say, made it much clearer.

Remove Them

As far as I know, Trump never suggested permanently removing Palestinians, just suggesting that they leave until Gaza could be rebuilt.

Trump then revealed a plan for a modern city, suggesting the United States should lead the way in rebuilding, which I did not agree with. Trump flipped that a bit later, suggesting the United States would own Gaza, but they would allow other countries to develop it.

From my perspective, having everyone leave while construction takes place makes sense, but I surely don’t want the United States involved in this mess.

How about letting the UAE and Saudi Arabia lead the way, and let them spend some of that oil money to rebuild a country in their neck of the woods?

Doubling Down

Initially, Trump held firm to the idea, stating, “I’m committed to buying and owning Gaza. As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it.

"Other people may do it through our auspices. But we’re committed to owning it, taking it, and making sure that Hamas doesn’t move back. There’s nothing to move back into. The place is a demolition site. The remainder will be demolished.”

Contrary to the narrative the media said Trump was pushing, Trump then added, "But we're going to take care of the Palestinians. We're going to make sure they live beautifully and in harmony and in peace, and that they're not murdered."

My personal feelings are that we owe the Palestinians nothing, and neither does Israel. If you give power to a terrorist group and hand them a territory, that makes you a terror state in my eyes, and that is what Palestine did with the Gaza Strip and Hamas.

Changing His Tune

With various leaders in the Middle East and the mainstream media still pushing the narrative that Trump wanted to expel Palestinians, Trump made it quite clear, "Nobody’s expelling any Palestinians.”

To be clear, Trump never really suggested permanently removing Palestinians. All he did was present a situation that would give them somewhere to live while the rebuilding took place.

At the time, Trump had stated, "We’re moving them to a beautiful location where they have new homes, where they can live safely, where they’ll have doctors and medical and all of those things. And I think it’s going to be great."

That is the statement that got twisted into Trump saying he was going to expel Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, never to allow them to return. Hopefully, Trump’s softer and more definitive recent statement will settle this issue once and for all… but I doubt it.
