Trump poll numbers crashing inside of 100 days
When Donald Trump took office, much like Joe Biden, he had some of his highest polling numbers to date.
Well, we are nearing 100 days, and Trump's voter approval numbers are no longer so rosy.
Immigration Mixed Reviews
In February, polls were taken to see how Americans felt about Trump’s immigration plan.
Now, to this point, Trump was doing exactly what he said he would do, but the numbers were not showing it.
Trump was initially over 50% approval on immigration, but he started to dip below that after only one month.
The one true shocker was how horribly received Trump’s birthright citizen order was, with only 31% of those polled supporting that order. This actually stunned me because of how Trump had worded the order, specifically looking to pull back citizenship of children of illegal immigrants.
Job Approval Starts Dipping
Again, with less than a month in office, Trump’s job approval rating started to take a dip as well.
Trump was sitting at 47% in January, but that number dipped to 45% in February. Not a horrible dip, but shocking since Trump had yet to really do anything out of the ordinary other than exactly what he said he would do.
Trump’s other numbers also started to dip, with foreign affairs at 44%, trade at 42%, and the economy having dipped all the way down to 42%.
Trump also took a hit on the Ukraine-Russia war and the Israel-Hamas war. Trump vowed to have these conflicts over on day one, but that clearly did not happen, and his support on this was down to 40%.
Crashing and Burning
There is one thing that is needed right now, but it is one thing most Americans do not have, and that is patience.
To that point, the most recent Fox News poll was not good for Trump or Republicans. Trump’s disapproval rating on inflation was 59%, it was at 58% on tariffs, he stood at 56% on the economy, 53% on taxes, and 54% on foreign policy.
He was also getting hammered on immigration, with a 48% disapproval rating, far worse than what he had when he took office.
This is a wake-up call for Trump to get moving and get these issues settled sooner rather than later, even if he has to eat some crow with China on tariffs. Trump does not have to worry about getting re-elected, but the GOP does, and if Trump wants to keep control of Congress, he has to get these numbers up, or he will spend the last two years of his administration as a lame duck. And if that happens, we are probably going to be handing the White House back to Democrats in 2028, which we simply cannot allow to happen.
