Trump suffering effects of Biden’s energy plan

When Joe Biden was in office, he used our energy reserves as a political tool by tapping oil reserves in an effort to lower energy costs in this country.

This was far from the real purpose of these reserves, and due to rising energy costs, he was never able to fully replenish them.

Now this becomes Trump’s problem, and it does not appear to be one that will be fixed anytime soon.

Sell It Off

The Strategic Petroleum Reserve, or SPR, more or less had two purposes.

It was created to ensure that our country would have energy independence after suffering through the oil embargo in the 1970s. The SPR was supposed to avoid the long gas lines we saw back then.

However, it was also to be used as an emergency source of oil in case we went to war, ensuring that if oil imports were at risk, we would still have enough of a supply to keep oil flowing domestically as well as being able to service our military.

When Biden went green, supplies were running low, and he used this in order to keep gasoline prices lower when we clearly had the ability to produce enough gasoline to meet demand domestically.

Energy Dominance

When Trump took office for the second time, he signed another order to maximize energy production and make the country energy-independent again, such as it was during his first term.

In part, the Trump order stated, “It is thus in the national interest to unleash America’s affordable and reliable energy and natural resources.

“This will restore American prosperity —- including for those men and women who have been forgotten by our economy in recent years.  It will also rebuild our Nation’s economic and military security, which will deliver peace through strength.”

Biden never refilled the oil reserves, kicking the can down the road to the Trump administration.

No Funding

If Trump is going to replenish the supplies, he will have to appropriate 236 million barrels of oil, but the BBB only appropriated $171 million to replenish our supplies.

Oil is currently selling for about $64 a barrel, which comes to about 2.67 million barrels of oil, which is like dropping a cup of water into a swimming pool to try to refill it.

Refilling these reserves was a promise by Trump, who, during his inauguration, stated, “We’ll fill it up fast, but it’s at the lowest level. When we made the transition, it was at the lowest level in history, ever recorded. It’s the lowest level. Nobody’s ever seen it that way. They put it all out because they thought they could keep gasoline prices down a little bit, just go past the election, and after that, they didn’t care. And it didn’t work because they didn’t get elected. I got elected.”

I am not knocking Trump for this, but it is something that Democrats, who created the problem, will use against the GOP if this promise is not fulfilled. Sadly, the media will forget that Biden risked national security by selling off the reserves for political points and will just go after Trump for not delivering on his promise.
