Trump warns against protests at military parade
Donald Trump has decided to throw himself a $45 million military parade for his birthday, and based on what is taking place in California right now, it is a fairly safe assumption there will be protests.
Trump is telling them right now, if they mess up his day, they will be met with “very heavy force.”
Trump’s parade
While running on cutting the budget deficit and reducing our national debt, Trump, for some reason, has decided that throwing himself a $45 million birthday party would be a great idea.
The parade is being touted as the Army’s birthday party, which just happens to be on the same day as Trump’s, but make no mistake about it, this event is something that Trump has longed to have as president.
There are reportedly going to be more than 100 vehicles, thousands of troops, and is expected to also feature roughly 50 helicopters (and possibly planes), so the logistics and coordination for this event are going to be a nightmare, not to mention the costs.
The White House announced, "President Trump will commemorate the United States Army's birthday with a military parade that honors all who served since our great nation was founded 250 years ago. There is no event grand enough to adequately capture our gratitude for the millions of heroes who laid down their lives defending our freedom, but this parade will be a fitting tribute to the service, sacrifice, and selflessness of all who have worn the uniform."
The message
With this parade, you just knew the media would start to light Trump up, and they have already started to dissect the hidden message Trump is trying to send to the American people by having this parade.
While I have seen some reports that draw comparisons to the military parade that was held in DC to celebrate the end of the Gulf War, others are leaning into Trump’s “desire” to be a dictator.
They are using Trump’s words about leaders such as Kim Jong-Un and Vladimir Putin to justify their slant, as well as the fact that communist countries love to throw these massive military parades far more regularly than the United States, which has reserved them for very special occasions.
Trump loves to poke the bear, and I get it, but when you consider what is taking place in California and starting to leak into other states, Trump is giving the Democrats more ammo than they need to paint him in a negative light.
Met with force
To add a bit more fuel to the fire, Trump is now threatening to drop the hammer on anyone who dares to mess with his parade, stating, "If there's any protest once they come out, they will be met with very big force.
"I haven't even heard about a protest. But people that hate our country … they will be met with very heavy force."
So, we all know what happens now, right? Democrats post those words everywhere, which will get the left all fired up, and protesters will flock to DC to push back against this parade and Donald Trump, and there will be all kinds of news snippets of protesters being locked up.
Under any other president, the idea of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Army would be a positive thing, but the fact that it is Trump, and the fact that it also happens to be on his birthday, means this is just a PR nightmare waiting to happen. It is a perfect storm, so to speak, and we all know how they wind up.
