Uhuru Members Found Guilty in Florida Conspiracy Trial

Every time we turn around these days, it seems like someone else is being charged as a foreign agent.

This time, it is the Uhuru Movement in the St. Petersburg-based chapter.

Four members of the group were convicted, one as a foreign agent.

Guilty, as Charged

The ruling in the case was announced on Thursday, but the sentencing date has not yet been announced.

The Uhuru Movement is a socialist group that was founded in the 1970s, and it is currently led by the African People's Socialist Party (APSP), whose chairman is Omali Yeshitela.

According to the report, four of the members of the group were charged with “conspiring to covertly sow discord in U.S. society, spread Russian propaganda, and interfere illegally in U.S. elections.”

Yeshitela was among those that were charged.

He stated, “The most important thing is they were unable to convict us for working for anyone but black people.

“I am willing to be charged and found guilty of working for Black people."

The other three members charged were Penny Hess, 78, Jesse Nevel, 34, and Augustus C. Romain Jr., 38. Romain was kicked out of the organization about six years ago, then started his own group called The Black Hammer in Atlanta.

Hess, Nevel, and Yeshtela were only convicted on the conspiracy charges, while Romain was also convicted of acting as a foreign agent.

Prosecutor Menno Goedman stated, “The defendants knowingly partnered with the Russian government.

“Just look at their own words.”

St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch, a Democrat, added, “It is important to underscore that the City of St. Petersburg does not support, condone or tolerate any foreign government engaging in activities to undermine or influence our elections.”

This is just one more conspiracy to add to the growing list of problems we are having regarding recent and upcoming elections.

The fact this is happening in Florida is not exactly good for the GOP, considering Trump lives there and Ron DeSantis is the governor.
