USAID funded woke initiatives in the United Kingdom: Report

The shuttering of USAID is one of the biggest and most appreciated moves made by President Donald Trump and his DOGE team.

According to Breitbart, the latest revelation regarding millions of taxpayer dollars wasted by Joe Biden's government involved American taxpayer dollars going toward "diversity and LGBT initiatives in the United Kingdom, including providing legal advice to supposedly transgender asylum seekers."

It's yet another example of the ridiculous initiatives funded by USAID while most Americans had no idea what was happening.

Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency, was credited with bringing USAID operations to a halt after hammering the agency on X earlier this month.

What was going on?

A bombshell report by London’s Daily Telegraph revealed that the U.S. State Department had funded a number of silly initiatives in the United Kingdom.

Breitbart noted:

The broadsheet found that the $25,000 was approved in October of 2022 to support a group called “Rainbow Migration”, which aims to help “LGBTQI+ people” claim asylum in the UK.

American taxpayers also funded a list of woke DEI initiatives in the U.K., which has the sixth largest economy on the planet.

Breitbart added:

The State Department was also found to have sent $40,000 to the Edinburgh International Book Festival to fund a series of interviews “engaging with social issues around gender identity and inequality, racial equity, and diversity”.

Another example:

A further $35,000 was reportedly given to a university in Ohio during the Chinese coronavirus crisis to create exhibitions in the UK on “LGBTQ+ stories”.

There were several more examples, which only add to the many examples of wasteful spending abroad that taxpayers will no longer be on the hook for.

USAID on hold

After Trump's announcement regarding the shuttering of USAID, it was announced that upon its restructuring, some of the elements of the agency will be handled by the State Department.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that he had "paused all US foreign assistance funded by or through the State Department and USAID for review."

The secretary added, "We are reviewing all foreign assistance programmes to ensure they are efficient and consistent with US foreign policy under the America First agenda."

The successful closure of USAID is one of DOGE's biggest wins so far, with hopefully many more to come in the future.
