Vance blasts Dems for turning police into the enemy

Over the last decade or so, the Democrat Party has more or less declared war on the police.

They have highlighted police brutality cases while ignoring the deaths of officers, and JD Vance just called them out for it.

Defund the Police Movement

If people realized how rare a case of police brutality or shootings is, perhaps they would rethink how they attack police when an incident makes the national news.

For instance, did you know that nationwide, there are approximately 4,400 arrests every day, or about one every three seconds? Yet, when one incident happens, Democrats make it sound like that is the norm for police.

After the death of George Floyd, a lot of Democrats jumped on the “defund the police” narrative, which some of them now realize was a colossal mistake.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, a Democrat in one of the states where this movement had really gained steam, stated, “I think allowing this moniker, ‘Defund the police,’ to ever get out there, was not a good thing.”

Squad Still Pushing It

While some Democrats have expressed remorse, the Squad is still not buying into the idea that police are good people who need to be defended.

To that point, in 2024, when a resolution was put on the House floor to condemn all calls to defund the police, the vote passed 337-61, with every sitting member of the Squad in Congress choosing not to support the resolution.

At the time, Long Island GOP Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, a former NYPD detective, stated, “The ascendancy of violent anti-police radicals in our society is condemnable, and today’s House Republican-led effort to condemn pro-criminal actors and their violent ‘defund the police’ ideology while simultaneously signaling our full support for law enforcement professionals is a step in the right direction to restoring sanity to our national discussion on policing.”

Rep. Pete Stauber (R-MN) who introduced the resolution, added, “The cavalier attitude of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle is unconscionable. Where were they during the summer of 2020?”

Vance Blasts Dems

Last week, it was Vice President JD Vance who gave the address during the 44th annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, and he used the opportunity to tear into Democrats.

He stated, “The Trump administration has zero tolerance for anyone who threatens to defund, abolish or otherwise diminish our law enforcement heroes.

“And just as President Trump and the administration are filled with strong leaders, we have no tolerance for weak-willed municipal leaders who allow petty crime to take root all over our communities.”

This will be something that is discussed during the 2026 and 2028 cycles, as the GOP is going to have defend Trump pardoning the J6 rioters who attacked police as well as pardoning a corrupt Nevada official who stole money that was meant for a memorial for two fallen officers. It will be particularly interesting to see what happens if Vance runs for president, as he will have to directly answer for this.
