Vance defends Trump, predicts peace in Europe on Trump's watch
Recently, President Donald Trump blasted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over the Ukraine-Russia war, which drew mountains of expected criticism from the liberal media and Democrats alike.
According to the New York Post, Vice President J.D. Vance defended Trump's position on Ukraine and Zelensky,
Vance expressed optimism for achieving peace in Europe -- referencing the hopeful end of the Ukraine war -- thanks to President Trump's leadership on the world stage.
Vance also defended Trump's decision to talk with Russia to help achieve some level of peace, as it'll be an intense negotiation between the two countries with other countries, like the United States, likely brokering the deal.
What did he say?
Vance defended the president's moves during a CPAC speech this week.
"I really believe that we’re on the cusp of peace in Europe for the first time in three years, because we have leadership from the Oval Office, and we haven’t had it in four years in this country," Vance said.
As far as Trump speaking with Russia -- and specifically President Vladimir Putin -- Vance also pointed out how it would be impossible to broker a peace deal without Russia's involvement, given they're the aggressors.
"How are you going to end the war unless you’re talking to Russia? You’ve got to talk to everybody involved in the fighting if you actually want to bring the come close," Vance said.
Vance didn't stop there, as he took to his X account to defend Trump.
The Post noted:
Vance also took to X to torch historian Niall Ferguson, who alluded to Trump’s apparent lack of outrage at Russia’s invasion — unlike former President George Bush, who said “this will not stand” upon the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.
"Moralistic garbage"
The vice president held nothing back in his response to Ferguson.
"This is moralistic garbage, which is unfortunately the rhetorical currency of the globalists because they have nothing else to say," he wrote in a long X post.
Vance added, "What is Niall’s actual plan for Ukraine? Another aid package? Is he aware of the reality on the ground, of the numerical advantage of the Russians, of the depleted stock of the Europeans or their even more depleted industrial base."
It'll be interesting to watch the liberal media and their allies in Congress squirm when Trump helps to broker the end of the war in Ukraine.
