Vance expecting indictments from Russiagate investigation
Not long after Trump took office, DNI Tulsi Gabbard started to work on declassifying reports from the Russian collusion investigation. Reports recently surfaced that the CIA was pushing back on that declassification, and now, seeing the documents, I can see why.
Vice President JD Vance believes this case has teeth, and he is expecting to see some considerable indictments when all is said and done.
Just another conspiracy
When I first saw the reports about the actions of then-DNI James Clapper and then-CIA Director John Brennan, all I could do was smile.
I have been writing about this for years, believing that there has been a rogue element among high-ranking officers in our government who were working to destroy Trump after he announced he was running and wound up winning the nomination in 2016.
The media also played its part, constantly downplaying the story, even now.
For instance, in researching this report, I read a report on FactCheck.Org, which still downplays the real narrative, which is that people like Clapper and Brennan added Trump to the narrative of the Russians trying to influence the election. That is the issue… adding Trump to get him on collusion, not the fact that Russia tried to interfere, as they and many other countries do in every election.
Convene the grand jury
We have seen charges announced without a grand jury, which you can claim is lawfare or weaponization if you want, but when you convene a grand jury, you are generally pretty confident that charges are going to be filed.
When indictments come down from grand juries, they are not to be taken lightly, and Attorney General Pam Bondi is clearly taking this seriously.
The one thing that has always baffled me about this is why Republicans are not pushing back harder on the narrative that Democrats and the media are defending over what Gabbard is actually alleging.
Again, we all know the Russians tried to interfere. The alleged crime is when Donald Trump was added to the equation to charge his campaign with collusion for having worked with the Russians to impact the outcome of the election.
Indict them
Vance was doing the media circuit this weekend, and he chimed in on whether he believes there will be indictments or not. Now, we have to take Vance at his word here, as I don’t believe he would just carry the party line because he has more at stake than anyone else in this case, since he is the likely heir to MAGA.
When asked about the case, Vance responded, “I absolutely think they broke the law. You’re gonna see a lot of people get indicted for that. Here’s the thing that should really bother the American people. What do you want our intelligence community to be doing? I want them to be catching bad guys.”
He continued, “I want to be making sure that terrorists aren’t gonna kill innocent American civilians. I don’t want them laundering Hillary Clinton’s campaign talking points into the American media and giving them this air of legitimacy. It is sick and it’s disgusting.”
If this is a big nothing burger, it becomes an attack against Vance in 2028, which is why I am giving his comments a bit more weight than others. Vance needs this to be true, and he is far too smart to buy into something like this just to push a narrative. Other subjects, sure… but this is far too important and has too much at stake for him to simply be a “yes” man here.
