Walz called out for ‘Gestapo’ comments while on the Hill
This week, had all kinds of interesting hearings on the Hill, including calling in sanctuary city and state officials.
Governor Tim Walz was one of them, and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) did his best to embarrass Walz when he had the microphone.
Gestapo
Walz has been all over the place since the election, clearly trying to raise his profile to possibly make his own run for the White House in 2028.
During a commencement speech, Walz stated, "Donald Trump's modern-day Gestapo - Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets. They're in unmarked vans wearing masks. Being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons.”
This was fairly typical of the rhetoric coming from Democrats, and it was starting to have an impact on what was happening to ICE on the streets.
For instance, one report stated that ICE agents had seen a 413% increase in attacks against them.
Dangerous Rhetoric
The DHS, which oversees ICE, did not take kindly to the comments.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin responded, “Governor Walz’s comments comparing ICE agents to the Gestapo is sickening. This type of rhetoric and demonization of ICE officers has led to our officers facing a 413% increase in assaults.
“While politicians like Walz fight to protect criminal illegal aliens, our ICE officers will continue putting their lives and safety on the line to arrest murderers, kidnappers, and pedophiles that were let into our country by the previous administration’s open border policies.”
Dems were not going to stop, however, because as I have stated before, they thrive on chaos, and that is what they want to see on the streets.
Apologize!
Donalds went after Walz as soon as he got the microphone during the hearing, telling the Democrat governor, “Do you realize how disgusting a phrase that is considering the history of Nazi Germany? Would you like to recant that statement?”
Walz offered a lame excuse to justify his comments, then Donald shot right back, “The president is doing his job. So it is sick to refer to Americans who are ICE agents as Gestapo. Governor, you’re wrong. You need to apologize to these agents. They’re doing their jobs.
“They are Americans, they are serving this country with honor and decency and respect. Do not diminish their work simply because you tried to make a cheap point that you could tweet.”
I agree with Donalds completely, as this rhetoric must stop, but we know it's not going to. Everything Democrats are doing and saying right now is to create chaos, havoc, and unrest in our streets. They want conservatives and liberals to be at war with each other, and it is working. I wish the left would step back and take a breath. You don’t have to like what Trump is doing, but it should not lead to war against your fellow Americans. Politicians are using us all as pawns, sitting back, drinking, and having dinner with each other while we all tear each other apart.
