Walz reveals how Harris campaign got it wrong in 2024

Governor Tim Walz is clearly trying to improve his public profile for a possible run at the White House in 2028.

Walz has been all over the media lately, and he is not holding back about placing blame during the failed run with Harris in 2024. And I think it is safe to say that Harris will not be sending Timmy a Christmas card this year.

The Turnaround

Joe Biden beat Trump by about seven million voters in the 2020 election.

The enormous numbers generated during the election were largely in party due to all the new election rules that Democrats put in place for COVID, resulting in a record number of people voting.

Biden won all the key swing states, something that Harris could not do.

In his race against Harris, Trump actually picked up another three million votes, pulled all the key swing states, and even made headway into minority votes, especially when it came to young black males.

Not Holding Back

Walz has been on TV just about every night over the last few weeks, and he is trying to be as open as possible about the problems, and in the process, he is pointing the finger at both he and Harris for the failed campaign.

For example, Walz recently stated, "And look, I own this. We wouldn’t be in this mess if we had won the election, and we didn’t.”

Walz did not miss an opportunity to take a swing at Trump in the process, stating, "He is the worst possible business executive that I have ever witnessed… I need the business community to speak up.”

He is a politician, after all, so that was to be expected. But I am really looking at the comments about the campaign because this was Harris' show, and Walz has not been shy about criticizing how it was run.

Bad Campaign

Walz was very critical of the stance of the campaign to keep Kamala away from the media, specifically town halls. He stated, “We shouldn’t have been playing this thing so safe.”

He later added, “I think we probably should have just rolled the dice and done the town halls, where [voters] may say, ‘you’re full of shit, I don’t believe in you.’ I think there could have been more of that.”

There are even party members that believe that had they put Walz out there more, perhaps Harris could have taken Wisconsin, and maybe even Michigan, but the campaign was in protection mode for most of the race.

The reality of this is that Harris was the biggest handicap, unable to utter an intelligent sentence throughout the term and her campaign. So, to me, this is Walz asking forgiveness and looking to set himself up for a possible run. And I really hope he does run and wins the nomination because that would be a layup for conservatives regardless of who the GOP nominates in 2028.
