Walz tries to walk back Tesla stock comments

Last week, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was caught on video during an appearance mocking the fall of Tesla’s stock, a stock that is not only in the retirement account of many Americans, but also in his state’s portfolio.

Now, Walz is trying to walk back the comments after seeing significant online pushback for rooting for an American company to fail.

The ‘joke’

Walz appeared at a Minnesota town hall, where he took to mocking the fall of Tesla’s stock.

He stated, "Some of you know this. On the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day — $225 and dropping.

"And if you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off."

Walz is far from being alone on the Democrat side of the aisle for this attack, but there was far more at stake for Walz. The Minnesota State Board of Investment reportedly owns 1.6 million shares of Tesla stock in its pension funds, so the dip in price had cost his constituents tens of millions in their pension funds.

Walking it back

After seeing the pushback, Walz tried to take back his comments, blaming it on the perception of his critics.

He stated, “This guy bugs me in a way that’s probably unhealthy. I have to be careful about being a smarta–. I was making a joke. These people have no sense of humor. They are the most literal people."

“But my point was, they’re all mad, and I said something I probably shouldn’t have about a company.”

This was not a joke, and neither is watching people lose money in their retirement accounts. Walz is not sorry; he just got caught, and it is not the first time.

Liar!

If we go back to the 2024 presidential race, Walz was caught time and again lying and being forced to explain his comments.

The one that sticks out the most to me is Walz’s comments about carrying a weapon in war. At the time, Walz had stated, “We can make sure that those weapons of war, that I carried in war, is the only place where those weapons are at.”

Walz’s office was forced to explain that one, having later stated, "In making the case for why weapons of war should never be on our streets or in our classrooms, the Governor misspoke. He did handle weapons of war and believes strongly that only military members trained to carry those deadly weapons should have access to them, unlike Donald Trump and JD Vance who prioritize the gun lobby over our children.”

There were cries of stolen valor being made, as Walz was never deployed to a war zone, yet regularly made it sound as though that was the case. This was made worse when reports surfaced that rather than deploy, Walz chose to retire from his unit to run for office (you do not have to retire to run for office). Walz is just another lying snake, and I hope our country is done with him once he finishes his current term.
