WaPo columnist admits they never had ‘smoking gun for Russiagate story
One of the biggest con jobs in politics and the media, in my opinion, was the Russian collusion story.
And I want to be clear… I firmly believe the Russians tried to influence the election (this happens every election and has for decades with our enemies and adversaries), but the Democrats and media invented the narrative about collusion.
Shockingly, a Washington Post columnist just admitted the truth we have known all along.
The Mueller Investigation
The allegations against the Trump campaign resulted in a special counsel being appointed, that being Robert Mueller.
Now, there were some questions about who was actually running this investigation, but regardless of that, the investigation found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians.
There was also a Senate investigation that came to the same conclusion.
As noted briefly above, election interference by foreign governments is something that is and has been attempted in virtually every election I can remember. And let’s face facts, the United States is just as guilty, heavily influencing some foreign elections to get our preferred people into power. Point being… everyone does it.
WaPo and NYT Win Pulitzer Prize
The media bought into this narrative hook, line, and sinker, and did nothing more than regurgitate Democrat talking points.
There was no real investigative journalism going on here, at least in my opinion, yet reporters for the New York Times and Washington Post won Pulitzers for their reporting on the subject.
Had they truly dug into the matter, they would have found out how the FBI rigged FISA warrants.
And they surely would have found out how then-CIA Director Brennan virtually invented this entire narrative on his own.
No Smoking Gun
The Washington Post’s Perry Bacon Jr. appears to have learned from the mistakes of the Russiagate and other misreporting on Trump, as well as the fact that most outlets simply ignored what was going on with Joe Biden’s mental health when he was in office.
The media has suddenly latched on to the Epstein files in much the same way, believing that since the Trump administration stated there were no client files, then Trump must be in the alleged files. Bacon touched on both, stating, "You and I were covering the Russia thing a fair amount probably in 2017, 2018. We never really proved the thing we were sort of hinting at—that maybe [Vladimir] Putin and Trump are cheating and so on.”
He later added, "It was sort of obvious that Putin wanted Trump to win, but I’m not sure we got the sort of smoking gun. So, I think people should cover this, cover this aggressively, but not – it shouldn’t turn into like, every hour on MSNBC is Epstein, cause also, there’s a lot of other problems.”
That is a rather shocking admission from a major player in the mainstream media, and they wonder why nobody trusts the mainstream media any longer.
