Was Terror Suspect in New Orleans Working Alone?
The terror attack in New Orleans shook everyone in this country.
What made matters worse is that, at least initially, it appeared that this may not have been a lone wolf act.
More Than One Person
When an attack like this happens, you can only hope the individual is acting as a lone wolf, but Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, a Republican, sent a shiver up the spine of everyone by implying that this could have been an attack that involved more than one person.
After the attack took place, Landry stated, “This is a fluid situation and we are in coordination with numerous local and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure a complete and thorough investigation to bring those who may have been part of this incident to justice.”
This was out of an abundance of caution, but that statement sent a wave of fear around the country, especially after the report of the cybertruck exploding outside of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas.
Shamsud Din Jabbar, a Texas native and military veteran, was later identified as the terrorist attacker.
Who is Shamsud Din Jabbar?
There was an initial report that the truck used in the attack had been driven over the border prior to the attack, but that was misreported. Fox News later retracted the report, but not before Trump jumped all over it to blame Biden’s immigration agenda.
I would still not rule out his radicalization being attributed to terrorists that snuck over the border over the last four years, but that is speculation for now, so we have to wait until this investigation is completed.
What we do know is that Shamsud Din Jabbar is a native Texan, he served in the military, reportedly at Fort Bragg, now Fort Liberty, the same base where the Las Vegas bomber served.
He served as a Human Resource Specialist and Information Technology (IT) Specialist for eight years, then served in the Army Reserves as an IT Specialist until 2020. His decorations included: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign star, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, NATO Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Parachutist Badge, and the Driver and Mechanic Badge.
No Link
While both investigations are still ongoing, authorities have already concluded that the two attacks were not related.
Chris Raia, the deputy assistant director of the FBI’s counterterrorism division, stated, “At this point, there is no definitive link between the attack here in New Orleans and the one in Las Vegas.”
I have been warning about attacks for about two years now, feeling as though Joe Biden’s loose policies would result in a cell being activated here in the United States or terrorists actively recruiting on our home soil to carry out an attack just as we saw in New Orleans.
To me, the detail I am awaiting most is to see how these men were inspired and/or radicalized to carry out these attacks. If terrorists are now radicalizing from within, this is far from the last attack we will see.
