White House Called Out on Biden’s Public Silence in Waning Days
The last few weeks have had some interesting events where a sitting president would usually make some type of statement.
Biden, however, has been deafeningly quiet, and now the White House is trying to spin its way through the media’s questions about Biden’s silence.
On the Looming Shutdown
We were very close to having another government shutdown, which would usually see a sitting president put pressure on Congress to get funding, especially when the opposing party is blocking the legislation.
However, Joe was silent, which had the media asking White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre why Biden was not sticking up for federal workers who would be missing a paycheck if the government did shut down.
KJP responded, "All Americans need to know that Republicans are getting in the way here and they are the ones who have created this mess. That's the reality. That's the fact.
"This is not the first time we've been here. And the president has had this approach before. He understands how Congress works. He's been around for some time. He understands what strategy works here to get this done."
Biden MIA with Tensions Rising in Middle East
Turkey and Syria are edging closer to war as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is hoping to wipe out the Syrian Kurds, who are allied to the United States.
Turkey has all but ignored the peace deal that was brokered by the United States between Turkey and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), yet Biden has been quiet on this front as well.
A U.S. State Department spokesperson said, "Syria is in a fragile state right now. We don’t want to see any party take an action to pursue their own unilateral interests over the broader interests of the Syrian people. We continue to talk to the Government of Türkiye and others in the region about a path forward that de-escalates tensions, not one that escalates them. This is a time to increase stability, not to further devolve into fighting."
Numerous members of Congress have spoken on this front, yet Biden has been perfectly quiet, not releasing an official statement on the matter.
Not the First Time
Now that Biden is leaving the White House, aides are starting to come clean, and the stories that are being published are not going to be good for Biden’s legacy.
For instance, a bombshell report in the Wall Street Journal revealed that during the disastrous process of the Afghanistan withdrawal, Joe Biden missed a phone call from key Democrats who were trying to update him on the situation.
Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) was trying to warn the White House not to pump up expectations due to the information he had seen as the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. He stated, “I was begging them to set expectations low,” but he could not get Biden to take his call.
As we now know, the withdrawal was a complete and utter disaster, with 13 service members losing their lives, 170 civilians killed, and billions of dollars of equipment left behind for the Taliban to salvage.
A national security official also came forward to say that at times, when Biden was having a bad day, meetings were pushed back and addressed later when Biden was feeling better. This man literally put national security at risk because he was fatigued… so who was really running the country?
