White House silent after American journalist detained in Iran
Supreme Leader Khamenei of Iran has been winding things up lately, making it clear that he would still love to see Trump and some of his former officials dead, while also continuing to both attack and support attacks against Israel.
Iran stepped up the tension several days ago after reports surfaced regarding Iran having taken an American journalist into custody, but the White House has been mum, something that would not be happening if Trump were in office.
Breaking the Law
Journalist Reza Valizadeh, who works for an American-funded outlet, has been taken into custody by Iranian authorities.
Reza Valizadeh is employed by Radio Farda, which is part of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
He recently revealed that he was going to return to Iran because members of his family had been threatened by the government, and he did return on March 6, 2024. It was later reported that Valizadeh had, in fact, been arrested and was being held in Evin Prison.
He has not been given legal representation and Iran has not revealed the charges against him, all of which has not been confirmed by Iran.
They Have Him
The State Department confirmed the arrest of Valizadeh.
It stated, "We are working with our Swiss partners who serve as the protecting power for the United States in Iran to gather more information about this case.
“Iran routinely imprisons U.S. citizens and other countries’ citizens unjustly for political purposes. This practice is cruel and contrary to international law."
The last time that Iran was this bold was back in 1979, when dozens of embassy personnel were taken hostage for more than a year.
Holding the Hammer
When Donald Trump was in office, Iran was all but silent, with Trump having sanctions in place that were bleeding Iran dry, but that all changed when Joe Biden took over.
Biden immediately tried to get nice and comfy with Iran in an effort to get Obama’s nuclear deal in place, which in and of itself was a joke.
If you recall, when Iran signed the nuclear deal, which most experts say the country was violating long before Trump came into office, Obama sent them a plane with $400 million.
After having the country on the brink of financial ruin, Biden removed the sanctions, then did a prisoner exchange that included $6 billion in assets held by South Korea being unfrozen. Ever since then, Iran has gotten bolder and bolder, now openly taunting the United States.
