White House stays silent on alleged NYC mayoral election influence

Is Trump trying to put his finger on the scale of the New York City mayoral election?

If we are to believe reports on the subject, yes.

While Trump is usually pretty defiant about his plans, this time, mum is the word.

Not Going Away

After these reports started to surface, Mayor Adams was asked if he would be accepting a position in the Trump administration to drop out of the election.

His office responded, “Mayor Adams has not met with Donald Trump — don’t believe the noise. He is not dropping out of the race.”

Adams was blistered by the media on the subject during a recent event, and he responded, “If there’s any changes in this race, I will announce that.

“Right now, we’re moving straight ahead to do — No. 1, serve this city as we’re currently doing, doing a darn good job. And we’re looking forward to reelection.”

Closer Than You Think

I can say fairly confidently that if everyone stays in the race as it is right now, Mamdani will be the next mayor of that city.

Now, that does not necessarily mean he will be able to get his agenda in place, as he will still need the cooperation of the city council to get it passed.

Having said that, if they can get this race down to just one other candidate, there is a chance he would lose.

According to recent polling, if Mamdani is only facing Cuomo, he loses and loses rather badly. With Adams, it is a tight race, but Mandani still wins. If the GOP candidate stays in the race, well, we can kiss the city goodbye.

Mum is the Word

As noted above, usually, Trump has no problem showing his hand, but not this time, as the White House is not responding to any inquiries on this matter.

Previously, Trump insisted that he would stay out of the race, stating, "No. 1, you have a communist running, and you shouldn't vote for him. He's a disaster. He's leading. He's got the Democrat nomination because that shows you where the Democrats have gone.

"I'm not getting involved, but I can tell you this: I used to say we will not ever be a socialist country. Right. Well, I'll say it again. We're not going to have — if a communist gets elected to run New York, it can never be the same."

Having said that, there were more reports today that suggested Trump is giving all other candidates 10 days to get out of the race. What the repercussions will be, I have no idea, but that is the latest buzz out of DC.
