WI judge threatens close courtroom over fellow judge’s arrest

Democrats are not happy that the FBI took a Wisconsin judge into custody for having obstructed justice.

One judge is now leading a personal protest, threatening to shut down her courtroom over the arrest.

Judge arrested

On Friday and Saturday, reports surfaced that Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan had been arrested for allegedly helping an illegal migrant escape being arrested by ICE agents.

She was charged with obstruction of justice and concealing Eduardo Flores-Ruiz from apprehension.

If found guilty, she faces as much as 10 years in prison.

Dugan reportedly told law enforcement to wait in one room while instructing her bailiff to help the illegal and his attorney leave through a more restricted space.

Democrats outraged

After the arrest of Dugan, the same Democrats who applauded Trump’s arrest were outraged that the DOJ dared hold a judge accountable to the rule of law.

Democrat Governor Tony Evers stated, “In this country, people who are suspected of criminal wrongdoing are innocent until their guilt is proven beyond reasonable doubt."

“Unfortunately, we have seen in recent months the president and the Trump administration repeatedly use dangerous rhetoric to attack and attempt to undermine the judiciary at every level, including flat-out disobeying the highest court in the land and threatening to impeach and remove judges who do not rule in their favor.”

Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) added, “Make no mistake, we do not have kings in this country … By relentlessly attacking the judicial system, flouting court orders, and arresting a sitting judge, this president is putting those basic Democratic values that Wisconsinites hold dear on the line.”

Boycott threatened

Now a Wisconsin judge is threatening to close up her courtroom out of fear that she could be next.

Judge Monica Isham stated, "If there is no guidance for us and no support for us, I will refuse to hold court in Branch 2 in Sawyer County. I will not put myself or my staff who may feel compelled to help me or my community in harms way."

"I have no intention of allowing anyone to be taken out of my courtroom by ICE and sent to a concentration camp, especially without due process, as BOTH of the constitutions we swore to support require. Should I start raising bail money?"

A “concentration camp,” really? Dems just love those Nazi references. And if you are not violating the law, you are not in danger, so what is the problem? This is the type of rhetoric that gets everyone riled up, and this judge knows it. We talk about activist judges, well, I think we can add Isham to that list.
