Zelensky makes it a point to thank Trump after latest meeting
Ukrainian President Zelensky has had some epic run-ins with Trump, the most notable being when he was booted out of the White House.
It would appear that young Volodymyr has learned his lesson, making it a point to publicly thank Trump after their latest meeting.
Get Out
In February, the most legendary press conference I can ever remember took place between President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and President Zelensky.
Things started to get heated, and Vance came out swinging after Zelensky was trying to publicly shame Trump.
The parties were supposed to sign a new mineral rights deal that day, but Zelensky left the White House in a huff.
Then he ran to other countries to try to get what he was demanding that the United States give him to defend his country.
Apologize
Zelensky’s efforts fell on mostly deaf ears, as NATO allies did not want to open the checkbook like the United States has for Ukraine.
It was not long before Zelensky realized he had no leverage, and Trump was eating it up.
After that meeting, Peter Doocy of Fox News reported, "I have been told by a senior official here that nothing is gonna happen with this minerals deal until Zelenskyy goes in front of cameras and makes an explicit public apology for the way he behaved in the Oval Office with that meeting."
Zelensky did eventually apologize, although it was far from the parameters laid out by Doocy.
Thank You, Sir!
This time was a bit different, as Zelensky and Trump met at The Hague, and Trump was very complimentary of Zelensky, who posted publicly about his meeting with Trump.
The Ukrainian president wrote, "We covered all the truly important issues. I thank Mr. President, I thank the United States. We discussed how to achieve a ceasefire and a real peace.
"We spoke about how to protect our people. We appreciate the attention and the readiness to help bring peace closer. Details will follow."
See, when you play nice, you get to have nice things. Trump had recently stated that he was working on getting more missiles for Ukraine, as well as other military supplies. But more importantly, Trump noted that he had talked to Putin, and the Russian president truly seemed like he just wanted this war to be over with, so hopefully, a peace agreement is in the near future and we can stop flushing money down the drain to defend Ukraine.
