Gaetz Confirms He Will No Longer Serve in Congress

After Matt Gaetz was nominated as Donald Trump’s Attorney General, he resigned his seat in Congress.

Even though he has only served four terms, Gaetz has now confirmed that he will not be going back even though he dropped out of the AG nomination process.

Out of Contention

The Gaetz nomination for attorney general shocked quite a few people, including this writer.

Gaetz was deeply embedded in controversy over a House Ethics Committee report, which is why most people believe he resigned his seat as soon as he was nominated.

This blocked the Ethics Committee report from being released.

As you all know, Gaetz was widely criticized, and he finally decided to withdraw his name from consideration.

4D Chess

I believe that Trump nominated Gaetz to give him a graceful way to resign his seat and avoid that report from being published, but conservative host Dana Loesch believes this was Trump making a big move to not only help Gaetz but also to get him out of the way.

Loesch claimed that Trump was playing “4D Chess” to work this problem, stating, “[Trump] He knows he’s not going to get the seat, or get confirmed, nominates him anyway, and then lets the public in the process do what they do. Take care of it for you, right? Let them handle it for you. Then you can stand back [and say], ‘Hey, look, I’m being loyal to the guy. I picked him for the seat. It’s tough. Tough stuff that it didn’t work out.'

“It’s a brilliant move. It’s literally the exact same thing I would do. If I was in the position where I needed to get rid of somebody that was causing me problems, but hadn’t taken a stance against me publicly, that’s what I would do.”

She concluded, “I’m just laying it out here. I’m not telling you to take a position on whatever’s in the ethics report. I’m just telling you what I see. But I do think it’s actual 4D chess on behalf of POTUS, not Deep State.”

Gaetz’s Next Move

Now that Gaetz is out, the question is what he will do next. Gaetz offered a little insight into the fact that we can still expect him to be involved in Trump’s presidency.

He stated, "I’m going to be fighting for President Trump. I’m going to be doing whatever he asks of me, as I always have. But I think that eight years is probably enough time in the United States Congress."

The evidence against Gaetz that we know about was not good, such as numerous Venmo payments made to Joel Greenberg. Greenberg then made payments to known sex workers, including one underage girl. Having said that, charges were never filed by the DOJ against Gaetz, with Gaetz’s office having announced in February 2023, “The Department of Justice has confirmed to Congressman Gaetz’s attorneys that their investigation has concluded and that he will not be charged with any crimes.”

I think Gaetz can be useful to Trump, but he is not someone you want front and center because of his past alleged activities. My guess is that Gaetz will wind up in a non-Senate-approved post or as a Fox News pundit touting the accomplishments of Trump.
