REPORT: Concerns Grow Regarding Trump Inauguration Being Targeted
In just a few days, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.
Trump has had a target on his head for some time, and there are reportedly growing concerns that his inauguration could be targeted for a terror attack.
They Want Trump Dead
We know that Iran and other terror groups have had it in for Trump for quite some time. So much so, that Trump was recently briefed about said threats against him.
NPR justice correspondent Ryan Lucas confirmed this during a recent interview, stating, “Well, American intelligence officials have confirmed that they did indeed provide a briefing to the former president, but they're not saying anything beyond that. The Trump campaign is saying more, though.
“Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said that the briefing focused on, as you said at the top, real and specific threats from Iran on Trump's life. He also said that U.S. officials have identified what he calls continued and coordinated attacks that have increased in the past few months and that law enforcement here in the U.S. is working to make sure that Trump is safe and protected.”
Of course, there have also been two attempts on Trump’s life during the campaign, both unsuccessful, although Trump was injured in one, which also resulted in two people being wounded and one attendee of the rally being killed.
Not Us
When Iran’s president was asked about any possible plots to kill Trump, President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed the terror nation had nothing to do with any of that, as well as stating the country would “never” try to kill Trump.
He stated, “This is another one of those schemes that Israel and other countries are designing to promote Iranophobia. ... Iran has never attempted to nor does it plan to assassinate anyone. At least as far as I know.”
You have to love the disclaimer at the end of that statement because we all know it is a blatant lie.
Iran backs Hezbollah and Hamas, as well as a handful of other terrorist groups that have made it clear they want Trump dead.
On Alert
Reports are now surfacing that numerous government agencies are on high alert for a possible attack during Donald Trump's inauguration, as it is a prime target for an attack.
U.S. Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger explained, "The biggest threat, I think, for all of us remains the lone actor. Just in the past week, while President Carter was lying in state, we had two lone actors show up at the Capitol: one trying to bring in knives and a machete; another one who was trying – what I believe – to disrupt the proceedings by setting their car on fire down in the peace circle area.
"Capitol Police were able to interdict these folks before they had a chance to do any harm. But that threat of the lone actor remains the biggest justification for us being at this heightened state of alert throughout the next week."
I was extremely critical of the protection detail of Trump during the campaign that allowed a shooter to get off multiple shots, wounding Trump and killing a spectator, but I have to hand it to law enforcement since then, as they have pretty much had everything on lockdown, stopping multiple threats before they ever had a chance to do anything. But I have to admit, when Monday comes, I am worried about violent protests and a possible attack. I am just hoping we get through that day unscathed and can start to move forward, getting this country back on track.
