Independent voters siding with Trump on tax cuts and eliminating waste
When Donald Trump announced the formation of DOGE, I was skeptical in how much of the cuts would be possible.
Musk estimated that he could eliminate $2 trillion, but said he would be happy with about half that, but I thought even that was pretty ambitious. It turns out, Musk may have undershot his initial assessment.
Establishing DOGE
Donald Trump was adamant during the election season that he wanted to expose government waste, then eliminate it from the government budgets.
He later announced that Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk would head the advisory group, but Ramaswamy dropped out to run for Governor of Ohio, leaving Musk to lead the group on his own, and it turns out that was probably the best thing that ever happened.
After taking office, Trump immediately announced his executive order to create the Department of Government Efficiency, or "DOGE."
During his inauguration speech, Trump specifically mentioned DOGE, stating, "To restore competence and effectiveness to our federal government, my administration will establish the brand-new Department of Government Efficiency.”
Early Statement
DOGE hit the ground running, announcing massive possible fraud and significant wasteful spending at USAID, which was created by executive order during the Kennedy administration.
This created a wave of panic in the Democrat Party because they knew much of their left-wing agenda was being supported in programs being financially supported by USAID.
There were hundreds of millions in ridiculous spending exposed, including a $32,000 transgender comic book, $47,000 for a transgender opera, and $2 million for sex change operations and LGBTQ+ activism in Guatemala... not to mention the $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt.
To think, this was hundreds of millions of dollars in waste specifically to promote a liberal agenda that was exposed in just one agency. What will happen when Musk goes over the line items of the more than 400 government agencies we have in our government?
Independent Voters Like What They See
For the most part, we know where a majority of the votes are going to land in any given election, which makes minority and independent voters the deciding factors in most of our elections.
Fox News recently put together a focus group to discuss the tax cuts proposed by Trump as well as the elimination of wasteful spending. The majority of independents in that group supported what Trump is doing.
While Dems in the group were not buying the tax cats, with the big question was if Trump could even get them approved by Congress, but now the waste being eliminated is even starting to hit home with Democrats. Lee Carter, a communications strategist and president of Maslansky + Partners, stated, "Fascinating response. His message of eliminating fraud, waste, abuse is working."
I read the room by looking at the social media responses on social media from my liberal friends, and I can tell you this... when I first started making posts about the fraud and excessive spending, I was being challenged regularly. However, over the last few weeks, they are now all sitting on their hands. That tells me they realize the fraud is real and not a made-up story, and they are terrified that if Trump can eliminate this, their party is going to lose horribly in the next two elections.
