Trump says DOGE found something ‘horrible’

Donald Trump loves having Elon Musk as part of his administration, and it sounds like he is going to try to find a way for Musk to stay on past his 130-day window.

Trump announced that DOGE just found something “horrible” that he will need Elon to take care of.

Leaving DOGE

When Elon was initially appointed, it was unclear was his role was going to be in terms of a government employee.

Eventually, Trump declared that Musk was a special employee, but when he did that, he put a clock on Musk’s time.

Rules currently state that a special employee can only work for a total of 130 days out of any running 365 days, so Musk has a very limited window to do his work because of the current designation.

Now, Trump could find another role for him to fill, but I am not sure that Musk would want to turn over the paperwork he would have to in order to become a full-fledged member of the administration.

Musk Will Remain

When panic set in over Musk leaving, Donald Trump tried to quell the storm by saying that even if Musk is no longer leading DOGE, he would still have Trump’s ear.

Trump stated that whether Musk was involved with DOGE, he would still be a “friend and adviser” to the administration.

Trump also noted, however, that Musk is a very busy man, with several companies to run, and he needed and wanted to get back to overseeing them. I mean, it is X, Tesla, and SpaceX, so it is kind of important for Musk to be there as well.

Having said that, Trump said that Musk can stay “as long as he’d like.”

Something Horrible

Later in the week, Trump was pressed again about Musk, and he made it sound pretty clear that he wanted Musk to stay on, saying that Musk and his team would stay “as long as possible.”

Then Trump teased the next job for DOGE, stating that it had uncovered something “horrible” this week, but he would not give any further details.

I am not really sure what Trump was referring to, but I can tell you that earlier in the week, Musk hinted that his next target was going to be politicians who were funneling money out to NGOs then back into their own pockets as well as members of Congress who had become shockingly rich over a short period of time.

My guess is that Musk will go, and Trump will try to bring him in as a special adviser, but, to my knowledge, Musk would then have to turn over financial disclosure forms, something I don’t think he would be willing to do. If Musk does not go for that, I would think he would have a Bat Phone to the Oval Office similar to what Soros has when a Democrat is in office.
