Clyburn says Harris campaign failed her

The 2024 election outcome shocked some people, but I thought it was pretty obvious that Trump outworked Harris and Biden from the start, and he deserved to win this election.

Yet, Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.), one of the most influential Democrats in office, is blaming the campaign, not Harris, for the loss.

Avoiding Interviews

In August, the media started to get a bit fed up with their new Democrat candidate, who was not doing formal interviews with the media.

Three weeks after Biden had dropped out, she still had not sat down to give anyone any answers save a few very informal press gaggles that did not last very long.

From what I could see, this was Harris realizing she was not good under pressure and on the spot, so she purposely avoided the media as much as possible.

Former Obama adviser David Axelrod discussed the issue, believing that Harris would turn this around after she got her footing, but it never happened, at least not in time. To me, Harris was just scared.

Harris Finally Does Fox News Interview

Harris was trying to use the Biden strategy from the 2020 election… avoid the media at all costs and keep a low profile to allow Trump to implode on his own.

Well, Trump did not implode; he thrived and stole votes from key Democrat demographics.

Very late in the cycle, Harris finally broke down and did an interview with Fox News, thinking this would be her coming-out party, but she crashed and burned horribly.

She was not prepared, talking in circles, and it was arguably the beginning of the end of her campaign.

Not Her Fault

Last week, Clyburn was asked about the 2024 race, and like most Democrats, he continued to make excuses for Harris rather than admit she was a very flawed candidate. Keep in mind, Harris also got skunked in the 2020 primary race, out before the first vote was cast.

Clyburn faulted the Harris campaign, not Harris, calling her a “great candidate,” adding, "I will say this. I think that she is a tremendous talent. I think she ran a great campaign. I think she was ill-served in that campaign by people who should have listened to some of us who saw and felt things.

"Listen to Bill Clinton when he told them what was going on. Listen to yours truly, when I was going around these rural communities, I knew what we needed to do and was not doing it.”

I would love to see Harris run again because if she gets the nod, it will just be more of what we saw in 2020 and 2024. And if the GOP is struggling with its agenda, she may be one of the few candidates we could beat, as she would surely implode the more people see of her again. Harris is a hot mess, and everyone in the country appears to see this but the powers that be in the party.
