Arrest made in arson at PA governor’s mansion

The younger generation in this country is off kilter, and that seems pretty obvious based on some recent political attacks.

In addition to yet another threat against Trump, a report broke this weekend that the home of PA Governor Josh Shapiro had been firebombed.

Threatening Trump

I am sure everyone knows about the two failed assassination attempts against Donald Trump during the campaign.

There was almost another one, but police arrested a teen who had killed his stepfather and mother so he would have the means to try to assassinate Donald Trump.

The suspect is only 17 years old, identified as Nikita Casap of Wisconsin.

So far, Casap has been hit with two first-degree murder charges, and two counts of hiding a corpse, but authorities are looking to charge him with, among other charges, plotting to assassinate the president.

Bombing the Governor

Trump is not the only politico being threatened, and Governor Josh Shapiro and his family were forced to leave their home this weekend after it was set on fire by an arsonist.

Early Sunday reports broke that the governor’s mansion was on fire, with the entire family sleeping inside.

Shapiro had just posted shots of his family celebrating Passover, but his next post was not so celebratory. Shapiro wrote, “Last night at about 2 a.m., my family and I woke up to bangs on the door from the Pennsylvania State Police after an arsonist set fire to the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg."

“The Harrisburg Bureau of Fire was on the scene and while they worked to put out the fire, we were evacuated from the Residence safely by Pennsylvania State Police and assisted by Capitol Police. Thank God no one was injured and the fire was extinguished.”

Got Him!

Thankfully, everyone got out alive, and police were able to scoop up the alleged culprit, a 38-year-old man who had been identified as Cody Blamer of Harrisburg.

The belief right now is that this is a hate crime, and while some are sidestepping the issue, that is clearly top of mind. For instance, Lt. Gov. Austin Davis stated, “I won’t speculate on motivations, but I will say that targeting elected officials and their family members with violence is never acceptable.”

Senator Dave McCormick (R-PA) added, “There is no room in America or our Commonwealth for lawlessness, violence, and hatred, and such acts must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” Rep. Dan Meuser (R-PA) also stated, “What happened last night was not just an attack on one family, it was an attack on the values we all share as Americans. And it is particularly disgraceful that this occurred on Passover — a sacred time of faith, freedom, and reflection.”

Somehow, I am sure the media will blame this on Trump and conservatives, but this is the work of a hateful lunatic, and there is no place for it in this country. I really wish I saw an end to this idiocy, but until the political rhetoric in this country dies down, sadly, I think this will be the norm.
