Mace posts video of argument with constituent

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) has managed to take over the role as one of the more controversial members of Congress.

Over the last few months, Mace had made headlines more for her rants than for her legislative efforts, and whispers are starting to circulate that she may be just a bit unhinged.

Mace v. Crockett

This latest run of Mace’s started back in January, when Mace squared off against Rep. Crockett (D-TX), another member of Congress known more for her rants and social media presence than her legislative work.

Crockett decided to call Mace a child during a hearing, which sent Mace ballistic.

She responded, "I am no child. Do not call me a child. I am no child. Do not even start. I am a grown woman that is 47-years-old. I have broken more glass ceilings than you ever will. You will not do that. I am not a child. I am not a child. If you want to take it outside, we can do that.”

Sounds like Mace was taking some inspiration from back in the day when members of Congress would beat each other with canes or challenge each other to a duel.

Mace v. Connolly

Not long after that battle, Mace got into a fight with Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), who went off on Mace for what he considered to be a derogatory comment against the LGBTW+ community.

While Connolly was talking, Mace interrupted him numerous times, repeating the slur, then telling Connolly, “I don’t really care” regarding his objections.

When Connolly appealed to Chairman James Comer (R-KY), Comer replied, “I will be honest with the ranking member, I’m not up to date on my politically correct LGBTQ terminology.

“We’ll look into that and get back with you on that. I don’t know what’s offensive and what’s not. I don’t know much about pronouns.”

Mace v. Constituent

Mace posted a video of an exchange with a constituent while she was out shopping, and I am not so sure this went the way she had planned for it to go.

While we have no idea what the man said to Mace before she started taping, he seemed to ask her when she would have another town hall, at which point she just went off on him, captioning the video, "Some unhinged lunatic, wearing daisy dukes, at a makeup store, got in my face today. Dems are nuts. So I went off – and I won’t be backing down.”

Call me crazy, but it seemed that Mace was the one who unnecessarily went off here. And I can appreciate the fact that she does not want to be bothered in public, but she is an elected official, so this will happen.

There is also the language aspect to consider, especially when considering how much Mace talks about God. When you look at the big picture, this is a disaster for Mace. Regardless of anything else, barring someone putting their hands on her, she has to be the bigger person. It may not be a very popular opinion, but I think Mace was in the wrong here, and clearly should not have used that language in a public setting like this.
