David Hogg told to get in line or step down

Over the last few weeks, a major story has broken in the DNC with newly elected co-chair David Hogg ready to challenge incumbent Democrats.

Now, party leadership is calling him out, telling him to support incumbents or step down from his position.

Making a Move

Hogg was quite clear about his intentions when he ran for the position, saying it was time for a change in the party.

He then backed that up with a $20 million drop from his PAC that would be used to primary Democrats who were not pulling their weight in office.

Hogg explained, "The first most important thing here is to understand it isn't necessarily just out with the old and in with the new. I would say it's out with the ineffective and in with the effective. That is what we are doing here.

"Any person that has eyes can see that we are 27% approval with our base and we need dramatic change."

Road to Hell

Numerous talking heads came out to rip Hogg over his plan.

The most notable of these was James Carville, a Democrat strategist, who called Hogg every name in the book. As far as Carville was concerned, all incumbents should be safe, whether they were doing their job or not.

If Hogg’s plan came to fruition, it would be a nightmare for Democrats, as they would be spending scores of money in primary races they are going to need during the general election, especially because some longtime members are stepping down.

As time passed, more and more Democrats were vocally opposing Hogg because, God forbid, some in party leadership actually hold people accountable to do their job.

Time to Go

With so many Democrats now complaining about Hogg and his plan, Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin decided to put an end to this.

He stated, "No DNC officer should ever attempt to influence the outcome of a primary election, whether on behalf of an incumbent or a challenger.”

Martin later added, "I have great respect for David Hogg. I think he's an amazing young leader who's done so much already to help move our movement forward. It's important for us to maintain the trust that we have built with Democratic voters and to keep our thumb off the scale as party officers.”

If Hogg gets booted, so does the support he offers the party, and that could be just as disastrous as Hogg challenging useless incumbents. This is great news for the GOP, as both parties seem to be doing everything they can to ruin their chances in 2026.
