Biden’s Gaza pier left 1 dead, dozens more injured

After the war between Israel and Hamas broke out, Joe Biden tried to play both sides, but he failed miserably.

Part of this effort was a supply pier built in Gaza to provide aid to locals, but there is now a devastating report on the disaster that was created with that project.

Biden Announces New Pier

In March 2023, about five months after Hamas invaded Israel and massacred its citizens, Joe Biden announced that he was going to have a pier erected in Gaza where aid supplies could be offloaded.

Biden stated, “Nearly two million more Palestinians under bombardment or displaced, homes destroyed, neighborhoods in rubble, cities in ruin, families without food, water, medicine. It’s heartbreaking.

“Tonight, I’m directing the US military to lead an emergency mission to establish a temporary pier in the Mediterranean on the Gaza coast that can receive large ships carrying food, water, medicine and temporary shelters.”

Then he took a shot at Israel, telling the country to do its part, stating, “To the leadership of Israel I say this, humanitarian assistance cannot be a secondary consideration or a bargaining chip. Protecting and saving innocent lives has to be a priority.”

You Were Warned

I was against this project from the outset for two reasons. First, I consider Palestine a terrorist state because it has never helped Israel do anything to eliminate Hamas, and the people of this country sit back and watch the terrorists run the show rather than standing up to them.

Second, we all know that Hamas was stealing aid that was sent for the people of Gaza, the very people who allowed Hamas to exist, so, no, I don’t feel sorry for them, and if that makes me a horrible person, so be it.

As it turns out, there was another reason to be against the pier project, and that would be that Biden had been repeatedly warned that the project would undercut more effective routes for the aid… in other words, it was not necessary, just a PR stunt by Biden.

An Inspector General’s report on the project found, “Multiple USAID staff expressed concerns that the focus on using JLOTS would detract from the Agency’s advocacy for opening land crossings, which were seen as more efficient and proven methods of transporting aid into Gaza. However, once the President issued the directive, the Agency’s focus was to use JLOTS as effectively as possible.”

It Gets Worse

The project gets even worse, as there were challenges getting aid to the pier, and the very people it was supposed to help had challenges getting to the aid, but that was only part of it.

In a DoD Inspector General’s report, it was revealed that military services were not properly prepped for the mission, and even though the Army and Navy faced “low equipment mission-capable rates and low manning and training levels,” Biden chose to move forward.

The project ended up resulting in the death of one person, Army Sgt. Quandarius Davon Stanley, 23, with dozens more being injured, and roughly $31 million in damage to equipment. And remember, Biden said there were supposed to be no US boots on the ground for this project.

The report further stated that the planners of the pier “did not fully consider mission-specific information requirements, such as beach conditions, average sea states, and other factors that affect the ability to successfully plan and conduct JLOTS operations.” That is $230 million wasted, just so Joe Biden could get some headlines. This was literally a publicity stunt that cost someone their life and injured dozens more, not to mention the waste of taxpayer money.
