Sanders refuses to apologize for flying private

You have to love the hypocrisy of Democrats when it comes to climate change, and we need look no further than Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and AOC during their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

Sanders, who has been flying private to these events, was asked about his carbon footprint, which he completely dismissed and refused to apologize for jetting around the country on private planes.

Writing Those Checks

During the first quarter of this year, Sanders and AOC have been traveling around the country to give speeches about fighting oligarchy taking over our government, even though Dems have allowed liberal oligarchs to pull their strings for decades (think George Soros).

At one stop, Sanders stated, "We will not accept a rigged economy where working people struggle while billionaires become richer.

"We have got to create an economy that works for working people, not just Mr. Musk and the billionaire class."

He says that after having traveled to the event on a private jet, which he and AOC reportedly spent more than $220,000 on during the first quarter alone. During his career, while preaching about climate change, Sanders has spent millions of dollars on private planes, but wait till you hear how he justifies this.

Not Apologizing

This week, Sanders appeared on Special Report and was asked about the hypocrisy of flying private while preaching about oligarchs and climate change.

He responded, “No apologies for that. That’s what campaign travel is about. We’ve done it in the past. We’re gonna do it in future.

“You run a campaign and you do three or four or five rallies in a week.

"That’s the only way you can get around to talk to 30,000 people. You think I’m gonna be sitting on a waiting line at United … while 30,000 people are waiting?”

Carbon Pollution and Private Jets

Sanders could easily travel by commercial jet if he wanted to, sitting up in first class, having a cocktail, but he would rather spend that campaign money on luxury travel, which, by the way, is one of the biggest contributors to carbon pollution in terms of the impact of individuals.

A recent study showed that private jet travel emitted 15.6 million metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, about the same as the entire country of Tanzania produces every year.

From 2019 to 2023, private jet emissions rose by 46%, so all those rich and powerful people who are preaching to us about the planet are actually increasing their usage of private jets rather than decreasing their usage. Stefan Gossling, a transportation researcher at the business school of Sweden’s Linnaeus University, hit the nail on the head, stating, “The damage is done by those with a lot of money and the cost is borne by those with very little money.”

And where does most of the private travel take place? Well, the United States is home to about 68% of all private aircraft in the entire world, and I would bet that has a little something to do with Hollywood liberals and politicians using these jets like taxis.
