Bongino says he believes Epstein committed suicide
The question as to whether Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide or was killed is still floating around nearly six years after his death. And for good reason, when you consider the connections Epstein had to American politics.
If we are to believe FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, we now know what really happened.
Arrested
In early July 2019, reports surfaced that Jeffrey Epstein had been arrested on sex trafficking allegations.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman announced, “As alleged, Jeffrey Epstein abused underage girls for years, operating a scheme in which girls he victimized would recruit others for Epstein to exploit and abuse.
“Epstein exploited girls who were vulnerable to abuse, enticed them with cash payments, and escalated his conduct to include sex acts, often occurring at his residence on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
‘While the charged conduct is from a number of years ago, the victims – then children and now young women – are no less entitled to their day in court. My Office is proud to stand up for these victims by bringing this indictment.”
The DOJ report
When you consider who Epstein knew, it was not surprising that questions arose as to whether he had killed himself or someone had him killed.
The most famous of his known associates was Bill Clinton, who was already surrounded by tales of the Clinton Mafia taking care of business for the former president’s family.
In June 2023, the Department of Justice finally released its report, stating there was "widespread disregard of BOP policies and procedures" that led to his death.
Inspector General Michael Horowitz added, "While we determined MCC New York staff engaged in significant misconduct, we did not uncover evidence contradicting the FBI's determination there was no criminality in connection with how Epstein died.”
It was suicide
I trust Horowitz, so that put the issue to bed for me, but I fully understand how people were still skeptical, but hopefully Bongino can fix that.
Bongino posted on X, “I have reviewed the case. Jeffrey Epstein killed himself. There’s no evidence in the case file indicating otherwise.”
He continued, “I’m not asking you to believe me, or not. I’m telling you what exists, and what doesn’t. If new evidence surfaces, I’m happy to reevaluate.”
I am not sure if that will stop conspiracy theorists from continuing to doubt it, but it’s good enough for me. I think it is time we put this one to bed.
