Zeldin gives Schiff a meltdown over EPA cuts

This week, Trump’s EPA boss, former congressman Lee Zeldin, appeared before Congress for hearings on recent cuts to the EPA.

Needless to say, Democrats went after him pretty hard, but I think he almost gave Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) a heart attack.

Cutting EPA Staff

In many ways, I think Donald Trump has tried to mimic Ronald Reagan’s presidency with his own, and he did it again when EPA staffing cuts were announced.

Zeldin announced that the administration was going to trim it down significantly, specifically stating that the cuts would reduce staffing for the EPA to Reagan-era levels, in order to "operate as efficiently and effectively as possible."

Now, the cuts are not as drastic as the media and Democrats are making them sound.

We currently have about 15,000 staffers, and Reagan’s EPA had between 11,000 and 14,000, depending on what year you look at.

Cutting Regulations

About two weeks ago, Zeldin announced a massive deregulation move that the EPA was undertaking.

On the move, Zeldin stated, “Today is the greatest day of deregulation our nation has seen. We are driving a dagger straight into the heart of the climate change religion to drive down cost of living for American families, unleash American energy, bring auto jobs back to the U.S. and more.

“Alongside President Trump, we are living up to our promises to unleash American energy, lower costs for Americans, revitalize the American auto industry, and work hand-in-hand with our state partners to advance our shared mission.”

As we would expect, Democrats started to go crazy, but it was nothing compared to what they had in store for Zeldin once they got him on the Hill.

The Meltdown

As soon as Schiff got his turn at Zeldin, he went nuclear, stating, "Your legacy will be more lung cancer — it'll be more bladder cancer, more head and neck cancer. There'll be more breast cancer, more leukemia and pancreatic cancer, more liver cancer, more skin cancer, more kidney cancer, more testicular cancer, or colorectal cancer — more rare cancers of innumerable varieties. That will be your legacy.”

Schiff later added, "You could give a rat’s a-- about how much cancer your agency causes.”

Zeldin got this kind of treatment from just about every Democrat, and they all seemed more interested in going on a rant for the cameras than in actually getting any answers from Zeldin.

The next two years will be very contentious, my friends, which is why the GOP has to hold control of Congress at the mid-terms. Democrats already refuse to work with Republicans, and we all know what happens if they get control of the House and Senate again.
