Trump officially closing down Biden’s parole program

As just Joe Biden was heading out the door, he started a parole-in-place program in the Department of Homeland Security.

This allowed certain migrants to have temporary protected status (TPS), something Trump was just able to end.

Protect Them

Biden knew that since he was about to leave office, he had to protect the illegals he allowed into this country, and he did that with the parole-in-place program.

The American Immigration Council, just prior to the program going into play, reported, “This program, which is not yet open for applications, will not only allow up to 550,000 people to receive temporary protections and work permits in the United States, but will generally allow them to apply for lawful permanent resident (LPR) status (also known as a green card) through their spouses without risking years of separation from their families.”

Now, I have read reports on just about every program that Biden started, and the consensus is that these programs gave asylum to migrants who were about 90% likely to be declined had they gone through normal channels.

In this case, that means that roughly 55,000 of these people would have been approved, yet Joe Biden let them enter and set up shop in the country with TPS.

Strike Three

As soon as Trump came into office, he ended the program, and that order, of course, was challenged.

It wound up before the Supreme Court, with Trump getting the win,

Karen Tumlin, co-counsel for the immigrants, was livid that the court ruled against her clients, stating, "The Trump administration unilaterally and prematurely reneged on that promise, ordering a termination of their lawful status and clawing back their work permits.”

She added that it was a sad day "not just sad for our clients, but for the hundreds of thousand of other people—Ukrainians fleeing Russian invasion, Afghans who assisted our U.S. military service members—whose parole status has also been threatened who may now suffer the exact same fate."

Let’s Do This

On Thursday, the bad news started to be delivered, as the more than 500,000 people with a TPS order were starting to get notified that their status had been revoked.

Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated, “The Biden Administration lied to America. They allowed more than half a million poorly vetted aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela and their immediate family members to enter the United States through these disastrous parole programs; granted them opportunities to compete for American jobs and undercut American workers; forced career civil servants to promote the programs even when fraud was identified; and then blamed Republicans in Congress for the chaos that ensued and the crime that followed.

“Ending the CHNV parole programs, as well as the paroles of those who exploited it, will be a necessary return to common-sense policies, a return to public safety, and a return to America First.”

We have to get our border situation under control, and whether it is cold-hearted or not, these people need to be removed from the country, If they self-deport, I would have zero issue with them being permitted to apply legally. However, I firmly believe that if we are forced to remove them, they should be banned from ever stepping foot in this country again.
