Judge blocks Trump’s order on election integrity

Virtually every executive order that has been issued by Trump has been litigated.

The latest being Trump’s order on election integrity, and like many of his other orders, Trump just lost this case.

The Order

I love the order that was issued, which is an attempt to preserve election integrity and ensure that non-citizens cannot vote in any election, including local elections (numerous Democrat cities and states now allow non-citizens to vote in local elections).

There are three key points regarding foreign nationals voting in our elections. The first being, “The Election Assistance Commission will require documentary, government-issued proof of U.S. citizenship on its voter registration forms.”

The second point is, “Agencies like the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Social Security Administration and Department of State must provide states with access to Federal databases to verify eligibility and citizenship of individuals registering to vote.”

The final point stated, “The Attorney General will prioritize prosecuting non-citizen voting and related crimes, including through use of DHS records and coordination with state attorneys general.”

The Resistance

As usually happens, the ACLU stuck its nose in to push back against the order, calling it Trump’s “anti-voter” executive order, when all it was doing was holding Democrats accountable to the Constitution.

In part, the ACLU press release stated, “The American Civil Liberties Union condemns President Donald Trump's executive order signed today, which aims to upend U.S. elections and disenfranchise millions of eligible voters.

“This directive represents a significant overreach of executive power and poses a direct threat to the fundamental right to vote.”

It does not even come close to denying any American the right to vote, but it would block non-citizens from voting, and that is what has liberals up in arms.

Activist Judge

Judge Denise J. Casper, who was appointed by Barack Obama, is the latest judge to block a Trump order, and she is definitely one that I would put into the category of being an activist judge.

Our Constitution is fairly clear on the right to vote, but Judge Casper appears to be reading a different text than I have on this.

Casper claimed that the Constitution does not give the president powers when it comes to elections, yet he is responsible for upholding the Constitution, which I believe this order does. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) agreed, stating, “The bottom line is, only American citizens should vote in American elections. We ought to fix that. The SAVE Act’s one way to do it. The President’s right to try to do it by executive order. We should supplement that as well while Democrats are blocking our efforts with our bill.”

The end game by Democrats in opening the borders has always been power, and that play for power would require voting rights for all the people they just let in, regardless of citizenship. This is a legitimate assault against our Constitution, and I hope the Supreme Court sees it as exactly that and overturns this ridiculous judgment.
