Trump warns American could get drug into Israel conflict
The world is watching the war between Israel and Iran while sitting on the edge of its collective seat.
If any superpower jumps in, it could possibly lead to a World War, but Trump is now saying that it could happen.
Fight It Out
Trump still believes we could have a deal, but he does not sound overly confident.
While headed to a conference in Canada, Trump stated, "Well, I hope there's going to be a deal. I think it's time for a deal, and we'll see what happens.”
The deal does not look promising after Iran pulled out of talks regarding the nuclear deal that Trump is trying to put together.
And Israel has held firm that allowing Iran to have a nuclear weapon is not going to happen, and if they have to flatten the entire country to make it so, that is what Prime Minister Netanyahu is ready to do.
GOP Divided
This war has created a bit of a problem in the GOP, as there are people on both sides of this coin, wanting a peace deal or wanting to see Iran flattened.
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who has never seen a war he did not want to become a part of, stated, "If Iran refuses this offer, I strongly believe it is in America’s national security interest to go all-in to help Israel finish the job."
Rep. Josh Hawley (R-MO) also commented, stating, "I can't imagine a world in which that happens, I'd be opposed to that. The president is adamantly opposed to that. I trust President Trump here to keep our troops and other personnel safe in the region."
Trump cannot declare war without Congressional approval, so you can see how this is going to get sticky if the US decides to jump in here. There is no easy way out of this mess for Trump.
Could Get Involved
While most in the party are hoping that the US will keep its distance from the repercussions of US boots on the ground or missiles being fired, Trump knows his hand could be forced.
When Trump was asked about joining the war, he responded, “We’re not involved in it. It’s possible we could get involved. But we are not at this moment involved.”
That statement shook the world, with Iran even then making a statement that it hoped the US would make a call to Israel to cease its missile attacks.
Iran now seems ready to come back to the table, but you cannot trust them, so where do we go from here? While I think Trump has to pursue all means of diplomacy to avoid the United States getting involved, behind closed doors, I would bet that Trump is telling Netanyahu to make Iran as flat as a hotcake.
