Trump dismisses previous Iran assessment by Gabbard

When Donald Trump announced that Tulsi Gabbard was going to be his intelligence pick, there were some concerns raised due to statements she had made in the past.

Trump recently dismissed her assessment of a nuclear Iran, and the internet is once again buzzing.

Concerns

Gabbard had made statements and had some relationships with officials that created concerns from both sides, dating back to her days as a congresswoman.

For instance, Mouaz Moustafa, the executive director of the Syrian Emergency Task Force, stated, “There was genuine concern by Democrats in her own party, and Republicans and us and Caesar, about how were we going to do this?

“With the member sitting on this committee that we believe would give any intelligence she has to Assad, Russia and Iran, all of which would have wanted to kill Caesar.”

After Trump nominated her, those concerns were still a problem, with one official stating, “There is real concern about her contacts [in Syria] and that she does not share the same sympathies and values as the intelligence community. She is historically unfit.”

I Don’t Care

Another complaint made against Gabbard was that her clear anti-war stance would impact her assessments.

The general belief was that she could downplay intelligence to guide Trump away from engaging in a military strike.

Recently, Gabbard testified before the House, stating that Iran’s Supreme Leader had not authorized the creation of nuclear weapons and Iran was not anywhere near having a nuclear weapon, which goes against what Israel has been saying. To defend Gabbard here, those comments were one small aspect of her testimony.

When Trump was asked about her previous assessment, Trump responded, “I don’t care what she said. I think they were very close to having one."

Damage Control

Gabbard and the administration are now doing damage control to get a grip on this narrative before the media and Democrats use this to go after Trump and block him from possibly striking against a nuclear facility in Iran.

While Gabbard’s comments were cherry-picked by the media, as she continued to testify, she did state that they could produce a nuclear weapon, which is what Trump is hoping to stop.

Now, the White House is insisting that everyone is on the same page, and Gabbard is calling out the media for taking one response and ignoring the rest of her statements.

This is the world we live in, so unless you read the full story, it is very easy to get sucked into the mainstream media narrative as well the one the Democrats are putting out on this. But make no mistake, if Trump decides he wants to strike Iran, Dems will bring up that quote to push back on the strike and possibly try to impeach Trump if they take back Congress.
