GOP scrambling to find candidate in NYC mayor’s race

The RNC made a major miscalculation, as did the New York Republican Party.

Everyone assumed that Cuomo would win the Democrat primary for Mayor, but he got housed by socialist Zohran Mamdani, and now the party is scrambling to find a real candidate to take him on.

Not Leaving

Curtis Sliwa is the GOP candidate in New York City, and he ran unopposed in the primary election.

Most people have never heard of him, and the only reason I know of him is because I remember when he brought his Guardian Angels to Philadelphia.

Sliwa founded the crime-fighting organization and is now also a podcast host (who isn’t these days).

He is a joke in terms of a real threat to win an election (he got less than 30% the last time he ran), but the GOP let him in there, and now they are holding their hat. But guess what, Sliwa is not going anywhere, insisting he is in this race to win it, probably thinking Mamdani gives him his best chance yet.

Adams Kicks Off Campaign

Corrupt NYC Mayor Eric Adams, who was let off the hook by the Trump DOJ on bribery charges, among others, has announced that he will be running as an independent, officially launching his campaign after the Mamdani win.

He stated, “It’s a choice between a candidate with a blue collar and one with a suit and a silver spoon.”

He later tried to justify his struggles as a plus, stating, “If you’re going to be a man of people who are going through a lot, you must be a human being that has gone through a lot.”

There are also rumors that Cuomo could run as an independent, so if I am being honest, Sliwa may have a case to say that the GOP candidate has a real shot to win with Dems being split all over the place.

Get Out

Rumors now are that the GOP is looking to court Adams and have Sliwa drop out of the race, but as we noted, he has already stated that he is not going anywhere.

I have read reports that Trump may interject himself into this race by extending an olive branch to Sliwa and offering him a post in his administration to get him out of this race, but that is just a rumor at this point.

Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf commented, “Curtis has to make a decision of conscience. How much does he love his city as opposed to running for office?”

I truly hope the GOP does not embrace Adams because I think he is as corrupt as the day is long. There are those who think it is a mistake to surrender a major city to a socialist, and there are those who think the voters truly need to experience the horror he will bring to show them the error of their ways. I am a Texan, so this does not directly impact me, at least not yet, so I am open to suggestions on this one, that is as long as it does not involve embracing Adams as one of our own.
