Ken Paxton rocked by divorce announcement
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, while very successful in elections, always seems to have a cloud over his head at the wrong time.
During his last AG election, it was pending corruption charges and a possible impeachment.
Now, as he gets ready to go head-to-head with Senator Cornyn (R-TX) for a key Senate seat, he gets served divorce papers from his wife, but there is a bit more to it than just that.
Biblical Grounds
Paxton’s wife did not just announce that she was going to divorce the polarizing public official, but she claimed “Biblical grounds” in a scorching post on X.
State Senator Angela Paxton posted, “Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds.
“I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage."
She continued, “I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose.”
Paxton Responds
To his credit, Ken Paxton did not return fire, which was probably a very smart move.
He also posted about the divorce, stating, "After facing the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny, Angela and I have decided to start a new chapter in our lives.”
He later added, "I could not be any more proud or grateful for the incredible family that God has blessed us with, and I remain committed to supporting our amazing children and grandchildren. I ask for your prayers and privacy at this time."
With Paxton, that privacy will never happen, as there are people on both sides of the aisle lying in wait to take him down.
The Election
Paxton has been crushing Cornyn in recent polling, holding a massive double-digit lead, but we are in the Bible belt here, and the wording of Angela’s post was clearly meant to hit Ken Paxton where it hurts.
This is of importance because a rising star in the Democrat Party could toss her hat into this race.
I am speaking of Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), who has not yet entered the race but is leading in polling by a significant margin.
I have always stated that when a Democrat wins a Senate seat in Texas, it is time to move because Texas will be the next California. While I am not a Cornyn fan, I have to ask, is Paxton really the right person to take him on and face off against Democrats in this flammable political environment?
