Obama offers hidden message in parenting advice

For the 2024 campaign, Democrats talked down to voters rather than talking to voters.

I firmly believe this was a major reason they lost that race, disenfranchising many voters, but this was huge in the young, black male demographic.

It would now appear that Obama has seen the light.

Talking at People

Obama was as guilty as everyone else when he started to talk about the election with younger voters. He did not want to hear what young, black men had to tell him; he only wanted to shame them into voting for Harris.

During one campaign stop, Obama went nuclear on black voters who were not supporting Harris, telling them, “And you are thinking about sitting out? Part of it makes me think — and I'm speaking to men directly — part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren't feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you're coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that.”

He later stated, “On the one hand, you have somebody who grew up like you, knows you, went to college with you, understands the struggles and pain and joy that comes from those experiences.”

He continued, “And on the other side, you have someone who has consistently shown disregard, not just for the communities, but for you as a person.”

Voting the Wrong Way

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) also accused voters of voting the wrong way because they were “uneducated.”

Now, she was not talking about being stupid, but the fact that life gets in the way, and maybe people are not researching candidates enough.

While I agree with her to an extent, she needs to realize that most people vote with their bank account, and when they saw their money going red over the last four years, their first reaction is to change.

Her entire speech to me came off as condescending, and I can tell that if I had voted for Trump but were still a Democrat, that comment would have pushed me over the edge.

More Than Parenting Advice

Barack Obama appeared with Michelle on her podcast, trying to put to rest all of the divorce rumors while also offering a parenting tip, but I think it was a bit more than just that, as I think Obama had a hidden message for the party as a whole.

While discussing parenting young men in this country, he stated, “I will say, as quote-unquote, progressives, Democrats, progressive parents, enlightened ones, we’ve made that mistake sometimes in terms of our rhetoric.

“Where it’s like we’re constantly talking about … what’s wrong with the boys, instead of what’s right with them.”

All you have to do is listen, which is what Trump did during the last election cycle. He did not talk down to people. He went into their neighborhoods, appeared on their podcasts, and listened to what they had to say. Maybe when you stop talking at people and stop insulting them, you will get better results. Something tells me most Democrats will not get the message I believe Obama was trying to send.
